Xbox Game Pass May 2021

Xbox Game Pass For Families And Households: Where Is The Family Plan

Xbox Game Pass May 2021 Games to Play [Entire Library Breakdown]

I get this question a lot. Where exactly is a family plan for Xbox Game Pass? Is it something that could realistically happen? And what could be potentially holding it up?

Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft’s all-you-can-eat gaming service, taking cues from Netflix and Spotify. For a relatively low monthly fee, you gain access to hundreds of the best Xbox games to play whenever you want. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s cloud gaming tier, you can even stream those games to an Android smartphone, with a web version for iOS and PC coming later on.

Xbox Game Pass may seem similar to Spotify and Netflix on the surface, but the similarities are only skin deep. Unlike Netflix, retail buy-to-own native versions of games remain popular, and Xbox Game Pass may actually even be helping drive retail sales of games, unlike Netflix and Spotify, which are potentially killing retail sales in their respective industries. In any case, there is one major advantage Netflix, Spotify, and others have over Xbox Game Pass the inclusion of a family plan, for sharing the subscription within a single household.

Why doesn’t Xbox Game Pass have this? And are we likely to see it in the future?

Xbox Game Pass Late May 2021 Additions Include Snowrunner Maneater & Knockout City

There’s quite a collection of games scheduled for arrival on the Xbox Game Pass throughout the end of May. We’ve got the full list here.

Weve crossed the halfway mark on May 2021 and, as usual, that means its about time for Xbox to share what new games are coming to the Xbox Game Pass program to round out the rest of this month and take us into June. In what should be no surprise, Xbox came through with the delivery, sharing the latest collection of games that are scheduled to arrive on Game Pass throughout the end of May and it includes such notable titles as Snowrunner, Maneater, and the all-new Knockout City.

Xbox revealed the late May updated schedule of games coming to Xbox Game Pass on the Xbox Wire blog on May 18, 2021. The latter half of May has some pretty neat titles that will be available on different forms of the Game Pass. In addition to the above items, Conan Exiles is arriving, as is Mechwarrior 5 and EA Plays uber popular puzzle game, Peggle 2. Moreover, theres plenty of other games being added to that list. Knockout City is already slated to be free on all platforms in the first 10 days of its release, but it will permanently available Xbox Game Pass subscribers even after.

Remnant: From The Ashes

Coming to PC on May 13

The critically-acclaimed post-apocalyptic game Remnant: From the Ashes is a shooter RPG that borrows mechanics from Souls-likes. In it, players control a custom character, one of the few surviving humans, living in a world overrun by monsters and chaos due to an interdimensional threat known as the Root. It’s up to them to find a way to destroy the Root and allow humanity to finally rebuild. Ori And The Will Of The Wisps

Xbox – May 2021 Games with Gold

Available on: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Cloud

Ori and the Will of the Wisps presents a mystical journey, equal parts heart-wrenching and awe-inspiring, pushing the medium with an experience to remember. It’s a creation packed with meticulously handcrafted environments and creatures, with robust platforming gameplay that gels with the enchanted themes.

Developer Moon Studios constructed a painting in video game form, taking you across enthralling locations, from lush forests, creepy caves to sky-high mountains. The upshot is both an art piece and robust side scroller that’s not afraid to pose a challenge, unlike anything on Xbox Game Pass. It shines best in 4K HDR, showcasing every ounce of love and emotion poured into this tale.

Joint 10 Biomutant And Ghosts N Goblins Resurrection

Our Top 10 may include 11 games but only because these two could not be separated and both are deserving of a place on the list.

At times, it felt like Biomutant was announced when the original Ghosts N Goblins was released. Revealed back in 2017, it immediately went onto gamers radars thanks to the cute mammals you could play as.

The wait for Biomutant to release on Xbox was almost replicated in game as it did take a few hours to fully open up. Once it did though, it was a delightful open-world action RPG. Revolving around the Tree of Life, its roots are dying, in turn killing the tree and the world itself. You and your newly created mammalian creature embark on an epic adventure to change the destiny of this world you inhabit.

Youre not alone though, the narrator is on hand to offer some companionship. It is this comedic storytelling that helped make Biomutant stand out in 2021, along with some spectacular vistas. With an Xbox Series X|S version due out some time in 2022, it may be a long while before we are ready to put Biomutant down.

Returning fans will also be pleased to know that Arthurs armour does come off as you take hits. This method of showing damage was almost revolutionary at the time but still holds major appeal to younger gamers seeing a grown man running around in just his underwear. For this reason alone, Ghosts N Goblins Resurrection is deserving of a place on our list.

Could It Realistically Happen

I think what could be holding this up is potential skepticism from Microsoft’s partners. Xbox Game Pass is still a relatively “unproven” model in the long-term for third-party publishers. Although, there is a ton of data coming out that the service is only a win-win-win for everybody involved. I’ve seen documents from internal Microsoft presentations that detail how gamers within Xbox Game Pass are not only spending more time gaming, they’re actively spending more on games at retail as well.

Why this might be is anyone’s guess. Perhaps people still want the sensation of buying-to-own. Perhaps they want to take advantage of the Xbox Game Pass-exclusive discount you get after a game leaves the service. Perhaps the virality of “free-to-play-like” access to the games helps boost their mindshare profile. Or perhaps they just want to support the developers. Either way, Xbox Game Pass seems to boost retail sales of games that are in the service, not hinder them.

Still, I’ve heard in the past that some third-party publishers had pushed back on the idea of a family-style plan for Xbox Game Pass, worrying that their games in the service were potentially going to be split multiple ways, instead of just one. It’s potentially a fair concern. Netflix and other’s family-sharing features are often “abused” and shared with friends far beyond the account owner’s household.

Xbox Game Pass For Households Is Probably On The Way

I’ve heard several times over the years from trusted sources that Microsoft has long been exploring some form of Xbox Game Pass for households and families. It’s certainly something that is at least on their mind. That doesn’t mean it will materialize in reality for certain, due to the licensing complexity, but I personally believe that it’s probably on the way in some form. Whether that’s the full Xbox Game Pass library sharing only to child accounts, a “lite” version with Microsoft’s IP only, or the full-blown thing based on IP addresses or people within your Microsoft Family, I have no idea. What I do know is that Microsoft already has these features for Office 365, so it’s not as if there’s no precedent within the company for this sort of feature.

Xbox Game Pass is still definitely a work in progress, with new features always in the works, alongside Xbox Series X upgrades for the cloud streaming servers. A family-sharing plan or policy would be wildly popular I expect, and it’s certainly something I hope Microsoft can deliver in the near future.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives you access to hundreds of games across your PC, Xbox, and Android mobile devices. There’s no family plan as of writing, but hey, never say never.

Upcoming Games Launching On Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft gives us updates on games heading to Xbox Game Pass a few weeks before those games become available, usually twice a month. However, Xbox and ID@Xbox events toss aside this expectation to announce a flurry of games that are hitting Xbox Game Pass day and date, meaning they’re launching into the service when they land on Xbox platforms. That means day one access to all of these games for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, including some of the best upcoming Xbox games.

Many of these games are far enough out that they don’t even have a release date, and we’re not certain exactly which platforms they’ll come to through Xbox Game Pass. Still, this list in our Xbox Game Pass guide will give you an idea of what to look out for in the future of Xbox Game Pass. We’ll constantly update this list as we get new information about release dates, when games become available, and what platforms are getting them.

Knockout City & Second Extinction Confirmed

Microsoft has recently confirmed that Knockout City will be launching on Xbox Game Pass via EA Play on May 21.

The “dodgebrawling game” releases on the same day, so coming to Game Pass will help it garner a larger audience.

Following that announcement, it was revealed that Second Extinction will be entering Xbox Game Preview Program and will be available through Game Pass.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

NEW GAMES COMING TO XBOX GAME PASS | MAY 2021
  • X|S Enhanced: Yes

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a 14th-century alternate history story with fantasy elements that follows two noble siblings chased out of their home by the English. Set during the advent of the bubonic plague, the two find themselves wrapped up in a larger-than-life plot to find a cure for the Black Death while evading both political and religious forces that have their own ambitions. Despite its fascinating overarching narrative, the game is mostly centered around its heroes’ relationships and their fight for survival. Fans of triple-A blockbusters will feel right at home going through Plague Tale’s stealth-action gameplay. The game has a very satisfying sense of progression on account of its naturally evolving plot, solid gameplay mechanics, and the intriguing player abilities obtained throughout the game.

Xbox Game Pass: New Games For December 2021 Revealed

Among Us and The Gunk are coming to Xbox Game Pass in December.

Xbox Game Pass is Microsofts subscription service for Xbox One owners. Its designed to be like a Netflix for games, where you pay a simple monthly rate and get access to loads of games for download. Its not to be confused with the Xbox Live Gold membership, which gives users a selection of free games each month.

There has been a huge surge in popularity and profile for Xbox Game Pass since its launch, mainly due to the diverse list of games and first-party exlusives on the service. In fact, Microsoft drops new releases from its own internal studios onto the service on day one! Sea of Thieves was the first example of this, followed by State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3. Since then, the service has seen the day one launch of several other high-profile Xbox exclusives, including Gears 5, The Outer Worlds, and Halo: Reach on the Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Membership to Xbox Game Pass will set you back $9.99 per month. You can now also get an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $1 for the first month and $14.99 every month after that. The subscription includes an Xbox Live Gold membership as well as all of the games offered on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. Plus, with cloud support, you can play a selection of Xbox Game Pass titles on your Android phone. And now you even get access to titles on EA Play, the third-party publishers own on-demand service.

Dragon Quest Xi S: Echoes Of An Elusive Age Definitive Edition

  • Approximate Game Length: 70 Hours
  • Genre: JRPG
  • X|S Enhanced: No
  • File Size: 31 GB

Dragon Quest XI follows a silent protagonist and his band of merry friends as they explore impressive vistas and small towns in a typical JRPG fashion. Unlike the modern Final Fantasy games, Echoes of an Elusive Age sticks to the traditional turn-based battles of yesteryear. Yes, Dragon Quest XI is still an aggressively traditional JRPG, but that doesn’t stop it from being a first-class game and a must for any fans of the genre. Square Enix has been iterating on the Dragon Quest formula for three decades, and it shows. It’s hard to imagine a more polished and complete package than Dragon Quest XI. Read our review here.
