System Software And Features
Both consoles feature a similar to the Xbox One, but there has been a 40% reduction in memory use to improve its speed. According to the UI development team, the Home section loads in about half the time as it did on the Xbox One. Other changes include adding rounded UI elements, a more-readable font for text elements, rearrangement of certain aligned features, and improvements to the sharing functions. These changes were brought to the Xbox One system software, the Windows’ Xbox application, and the Xbox mobile application around September 2020. Based on system previews, about 200 GB of space was reserved on the internal drive of the Xbox Series X for system files.
The console’s Quick Resume feature will allow users to suspend and resume more than one game at a time, and also resume suspended games after a reboot of the console.
Several video and streaming media services will be available through the system software on the consoles’ launch notably, it will be the first time that will be available on Xbox consoles.
Microsoft plans to migrate the xCloud service from Xbox One S-based to Xbox Series X-based systems by 2021.
Microsoft did not restrict the ability for developers to release games that are exclusive to Xbox Series X. The company is preferring a “soft” transition more in line with , where developers can target optimal play on high-end hardware but still allow the game to be played with reduced fidelity on lower-end hardware .

Dragon Quest Xi S: Echoes Of An Elusive Age Definitive Edition
Dragon Quest XI is a great game, and for the past few years, its only been available to PC and PS4 players. Now, its finally on Xbox, and its available on Game Pass. Dragon Quest XI offers absolutely no surprises for series fans, and thats a good thing. Like the best JRPGs, the game sends you from town to town, battling monsters in turn-based combat along the way. The mechanics arent interesting, but Dragon Quest XIs characters are, and their banter makes the game shine.
The version available on Game Pass is the best way to play the game, too. Its an updated version of Dragon Quest XI with a fully orchestrated soundtrack, a 2D mode that turns that game into a retro JRPG, and a slew of quality of life improvements. The obnoxiously long title aside, this version really is the definitive way to play Dragon Quest XI. Having a fully orchestrated soundtrack as opposed to the MIDI the original game shipped with is enough, even. Take a look at our list of the best Dragon Quest games to see how this one stacks up in the series.

Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game pass Ultimate subscribers on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC are about to lose four different games. One of these games is hardly notable, but one of them is amongst the highest-rated Xbox One games with a Metacritic score of 90. Until then, each game is available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers to buy outright with a 20 percent discount.

Below, you can read more about each game and check out a trailer for each game:

Play as Kazuma Kiryu and discover how he finds himself in a world of trouble when a simple debt collection goes wrong and his mark winds up murdered. What Remains Of Edith Finch
There are few games that are as atmospheric as What Remains of Edith Finch, a tale of the last surviving member of the Finch family. Edith returns home to explore the family estate, with each of the Finch family having passed away in mysterious or tragic circumstances.
Piecing together her familys history through playable vignettes, What Remains of Edith Finch is touching, but more than a little dour. Still, it leaves an indelible message about life and death thats hard to forget.

Initial Unveiling And Launch
Prior to the official unveiling, a rumor had circulated that the next Xbox console would be an “always on” system requiring a persistent Internet connection, though Microsoft had not confirmed this. This had drawn some concerns from consumers, which were heightened when employee Adam Orth stated in a message in April 2013 that said, “Sorry, I don’t get the drama around having an ‘always on’ console…Every device now is ‘always on.’ That’s the world we live in. #dealwithit”. Orth’s message drew further ire towards Microsoft, with concerns about and practices against the sale of used games with an “always on” unit. Orth opted to leave Microsoft a few days later due to the backlash. Despite Microsoft’s statements following the situation, denying the rumors, the mood it created lingered over the next several months.
In response to these pre-launch changes and a belief that Microsoft’s initial decisions for the console were in poor judgement, journalists and consumers jokingly gave the Xbox One nicknames such as the “Xbox 180”, in reference to the Xbox 360 and Microsoft’s decision to reverse its controversial decisions, and “Xbone”, suggesting that the company was “” to consumers by making these changes.
