What Is Better The Ps4 Or Xbox One

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Controllers

Xbox One vs PS4: Who Won This Generation?

In our opinion, the Xbox 360 controller was the best of its generation, and Microsoft managed to make a number of improvements on its Xbox One equivalent.

The headline feature has to be refined vibration control, with extra rumble motors for the left and right triggers providing fingertip feedback linked to in-game actions, such as pulling a trigger or squeezing the accelerator. It really works and gives you useful feedback rather than just fairground-esque effects.

The rest of the controller is great, especially the improved D-pad, although the redesigned shoulder buttons and slightly smaller analogue sticks aren’t to everyone’s taste.

The PS4 controller, DualShock 4, has certainly come on in leaps and bounds from its predecessor. It’s more comfortable to hold, the sticks are much improved with greater resistance and precision, plus the triggers feel more responsive than the spongy messes on the DualShock 3.

The stand out feature on the PS4 pad is the small touchpad. This allows for touch controls in games, swipes and the like, plus easier navigation when using a cursor . The whole pad also acts like a button and can be clicked in four different directions. A light bar on the back lets the PS4 camera detect multiple controllers too.

It’s partly down to what you’re used to, but the Xbox One controller has the edge for us with a proven design and those new rumble motors.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: What’s In The Box

At launch, Xbox One came with the console, a controller, and the Kinect camera which bumped up the price while annoying many who weren’t impressed by the motion capture tech. Subsequent Xbox One bundles included Forza Horizon 3 or FIFA 17 for the same price, while newer, cheaper systems have eliminated Kinect completely while promoting the latest Xbox games such as Forza Horizon 4.

Both the Xbox One S and Xbox One X boxes contain an HDMI cable and a 14-day free trial for Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold online service. There’s no USB charging cable, as the Xbox One controller uses batteries out of the box.

However, while the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition box comes with all this, it also includes three digital game downloads and a free trial of Xbox Game Pass – Microsoft’s game subscription service.

Inside both the PS4 and PS4 Pro boxes are the consoles and a single DualShock 4 controller. Wires include an HDMI cable and a micro-USB cable for the controller.

Don’t throw out the box right away. Tucked inside is a 30-day subscription to PlayStation Plus and a wired mono earbud. You’ll get much better sound out of a full-size gaming headset, but it’s nice to have a basic one included.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Specs Graphics And Interface

With largely identical optical drives , 8-Core processors in both systems, and similar storage options, the One and PS4 may look similar at first glance, but there are important differences. The PS4, with its 8GB of GDDR5 RAM compared to the Ones 8GB of DDR3, is faster and more nimble. The PS4 also tends to get a graphics boost on most games with a Radeon GPU thats a bit more powerful than the one used by Xbox.

Theres a lot of talk about overclocking and output, but basically the PS4 still beats out Xbox One performance on most specs in the standard models. It is worth noting that the One has some advanced additions like eSRAM which give its graphics a further boost: This is why the best console appearance often varies from game to game, and depends how games take advantage of that hardware.

Lets also point out that while Xbox One is very friendly with external storage drives, the PS4 offers only limited storage uses no externally stored games, for instance. However, the One cant be upgraded very easily, while an enterprising, tech-savvy gamer can probably find a way to replace the PS4 drive if necessary. Other ports and connections are largely the same, although the One has more USB ports.

Legacy Support And Backward Compatibility

Clash of the Titans : X

Xbox One offers limited backward compatibility with a selection of games as long as you own the original disc. You can also download legacy 360 titles through Xbox Live as well. PS4 offers PlayStation Now, a subscription streaming service that has improved since its launch in addition to PS2 emulation support that is slowly trickling out.

The new Xbox One experience

Xbox One Controller Feels Light Has Buttons Of The Snappy Variety

The Xbox One uses Wi-Fi Direct to connect its controller, whereas the PlayStation 4 relies on Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. On paper, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR’s theoretical 3Mbps maximum speed is clearly outclassed by Wi-Fi Direct’s 250Mbps theoretical throughput. However, whether this will result in any tangible difference, particularly for battery life, remains to be seen.

Each system includes one controller additional controllers for both systems cost $59 each.

Motion and voice control: Bundled vs. optionalIn an audacious move for something still primarily sold as a game console, the Xbox One and its bundled second-generation Kinect put alternate control schemes and interactions front and center. The PS4 keeps voice and gesture control optional.

The new version of Kinect will offer a wider field of view than its predecessor, better tracking of individuals , and the ability to track more overall bodies. And also determine your current heart rate. Yes tinfoil hat people, Kinect can be deactivated, but on the other hand it promises to be integral to the Xbox experience.

The first Kinect never really made a strong impression with hard-core gamers. It’s too early to tell just how developers will make use of the second generation’s upgraded features, but since every Xbox One owner will have one, it’s safe to say there will be more games that take advantage of voice and gestures.

Once again, here’s our PS4 review:

SmartGlass will also be more tightly integrated into the Xbox One.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Specs

Heres where youll see one of the obvious differences between the two console platforms.

The original Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X are all powered by a custom x86 based architecture AMD 8-core processor. As far as clock speeds are concerned, the Xbox One X clocks in at a whopping 2.3GHz while both the Xbox One and Xbox One S is clocked in at 1.75GHz.

Looking at the PS4 side, the original PS4, the Slim, and the PS4 Pro are also powered by a custom x86 based architecture 8-core AMD CPU. The only difference is that the PS4 Slim is clocked at 1.6GHz while the Pro is clocked at 2.13GHz.

Xbox One S Vs Ps: Online Services

Microsoft charged for its premium Xbox Live service from the off and the investment certainly paid dividends, with a technically great service that simply worked.

Sony offered multiplayer online gaming for free, but always lagged behind in terms of the number of players and the smooth-running of the service the hacking of the PlayStation Network and its 24-day shutdown in 2011 being the obvious low point.

However, Sony introduced its excellent PlayStation Plus service, giving quality free games away on a monthly basis. Now the two companies are converging, with Microsoft giving away free games with Xbox Live Gold and Sony requiring PS+ to play games online.

Winner PS4

You have to pay to play online either way. Microsoft has a better track record, but Sony is currently giving away better games.

Are Ps4 And Xbox One Backward Compatible

Xbox One Vs PS4! Which is the Best Console?

The Xbox One vs PS4 comparison first got really interesting at E3 2015. After teasing Xbox 360 emulation, Microsoft announced Xbox One backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games. This was expanded to original Xbox games at E3 2017.

“We won’t charge you to play the games you already own,” jabbed Microsoft at Sony during its E3 press conference. Over 400 disc and downloadable Xbox 360 and Xbox titles will work on Xbox One, and the features of the newer console like streaming and taking screenshots crosses over to older games.

Microsoft launched Xbox One backward compatibility in November 2015, and a recent update saw its functionality expanded to include multi-disc games. Since then, the manufacturer has continued to bring more and more games to the console.

Microsoft’s game subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, has allowed subscribers to delve into hundreds of Xbox games from past and present, bringing a large number of Xbox titles to one platform as well as some EA titles and Bethesda titles.

Sony’s PlayStation Now service, like Game Pass, is a game subscription service that, in exchange for a flat monthly fee, gives you access to a library to hundreds of games. In terms of quantity of games, it wins out but Xbox has the edge when it comes to quality as Xbox puts its latest releases on Game Pass on day one, which PlayStation doesn’t with PS Now.

Xbox One Vs Ps4 Price

Price has seen one of the largest changes in the last two years, with Microsoft working hard to update the Xbox One and make it more affordable. They dropped the Kinect, scaled back the price, and offered more bundles. As a result, the primary Xbox One and PS4 models can be found in bundles for $350 give or take $50 depending on the bundle in question. Both Xbox Live Gold and PS Plus cost a similar fee to purchase, too. Generally, cheaper Xbox bundles are easier to find, but the price race is essentially a tie these days.

Both consoles also have more expensive options with improved hardware and more storage, Xbox with the Elite and PS4 with a couple different model numbers. If you want upgrades, there are options both ways, including 500GB and 1TB storage choices notably, Xbox offers a hybrid SSD drive for its advanced model, but thats the main difference. All things have become largely equal here as well. If youre an old school gamer, take a look at our Dingoo a320 retro game emulator review for only $99.99.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Is Ps4 Or Xbox More Powerful

PS4 and Xbox One multiply the power of Xbox 360 and PS3. More importantly, they’re built with smarter internal designs, learning from some mistakes of last-generation consoles.

Chip manufacturer AMD is behind most of these upgrades. Both the original Xbox One and the Xbox One S have a custom, 1.75GHz AMD 8-core CPU, while the Xbox One X bumps that up to a 2.3GHz 8-core chip.

The base PS4 CPU remained clocked at 1.6GHz and contains a similar custom AMD 8-core CPU with x86-based architecture, while the PS4 Pro bumps that clock speed up to 2.13GHz.

The original PS4 boasts a 1.84 teraflop GPU that’s based on AMD’s Radeon technology. Meanwhile, the original Xbox One graphics chip, also with an AMD Radeon GPU, had a pipeline for 1.31 teraflops, although this increased to 1.4 teraflops with the Xbox One S and to a whopping 6.0 teraflops on the Xbox One X.

The PS4 Pro, meanwhile, has a GPU with a considerably increased 4.2 teraflops of graphical horsepower. When it came to the original consoles, the PS4 won out in terms of raw power, although the Xbox One S closed the gap considerably. Microsoft, with the release of the Xbox One X, took the title of “most powerful console” from Sony.

Xbox One Vs Playstation : Which Game Console Is Best

PS4 vs Xbox One: Which Console is better?

Its been two years since the Xbox One and PS4 debuted here in the U.S. In that time, theyve both earned their keep as the bearer of current-generation game consoles. Microsoft realized some months after release that it needed a $400, price-competitive version with the PS4 that lacked the Kinect camera, and has since remedied what was once a bit of a lopsided, apples-and-oranges comparison.

Since then, both the Xbox One and PS4 have sold pretty well, with the edge on Sonys side although Januarys $50 price cut for the Kinect-less Xbox One helped Microsoft catch up. Both companies have released various bundles that may throw the price advantage in one direction or the other depending on whether you want whats in a given bundle. That said, how do the two consoles directly compare with each other? If youre thinking about buying one of these two consolesor just want ammunition for bragging rightsheres what you need to know.

One note before we get started: Unlike all previous console generations, the PS4 and Xbox One are almost identical hardware-wise. With an x86 AMD APU at the heart of each, the Sony and Microsoft consoles are essentially PCs and their hardware specs, and thus relative performance, can be compared in the same way you would compare two x86-based laptops or ARM-based Android tablets. Read on for our Xbox One-versus-PS4 hardware specs comparison.

Ps4 Vs Xbox One: Price

Though prices may change from time to time, the constant drop in price is inevitable, especially with the consoles getting older.

But as of September 5, 2019, here are the price range of these consoles, depending on the storage capacity:

  • Xbox One X cost approx $350 $400

Speaking of storage capacity, well cover more about this on the next section.

The Interface Works Better

For some reason, the kind of tasks you want to do a lot on the Xbox One are convoluted beyond belief. A common example is playing games with friends:

  • Double tap the Xbox button
  • Snap the friends app
  • Switch back to game
  • Invite party to game

Its odd, because it was dead easy on the Xbox 360: slam the centre button and invite friends. The amount of hours Ive spent struggling to get friends successfully into an Xbox One game are countless and no less frustrating.

There are other ways to invite friends using in-game mechanics but those vary wildly in how they work and can be inconsistent.

Window snapping is cool, but a little slow and frustrating to use. Every time I use it, I wonder if a menu could have served it better than shrinking the game and making the system run slower.

Recent improvements, like the ability to double tap the Xbox button to access split-screened apps and take screenshots have improved snapping, but it needs a lot of work to make it more useful, particularly around performance.

The thing is, the PS4s dashboard isnt all that attractive, but its far more functional and alive than the Xbox getting things done is far easier and it feels like theres a little more life going on.

Going into a games overview offers information about the game, guides, updates and the achievements youve unlocked so far. As you play, the console automatically takes screenshots of notable moments where you earned a trophy for easier sharing, which is awesome.

Why Resolution Doesn’t Matter

The Xbox One is multiple times more powerful than its predecessor, the Xbox 360. Just because the game resolution isn’t higher doesn’t mean the graphics aren’t better. The Xbox One can have more characters, particles, and special effects on-screen due to improved hardware. It has better artificial intelligence, better lighting, better physics, and better-looking textures. Plus, it can render all of this while maintaining a consistent frame rate. Games look and perform better on the Xbox One than on the older generation. While games on the Microsoft console may not look as good as their PS4 counterparts, they still look great.

Consider this about resolution. The Nintendo NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, and Wii consoles ran at 480i resolution . Still, the graphics changed from one generation to the next despite the resolution being the same.

Also, many Xbox 360 games weren’t even 720p, yet the games still looked very good. Your favorite Xbox 360 games, and many PS3 games, were probably 540p, 600p, or some other sub-HD resolution upscaled to 720p or 1080p on your TV.

While the PS4 is more powerful, it doesn’t always achieve the mythical 1080p and 60 fps target.

Do The Ps4 And Xbox One Support Vr

PS4 Pro vs XBox One S: Which One is Better?

If youre looking to break into the world of VR with your console, theres only one choice: PS4. PlayStation VR is the only headset currently compatible with a console, and its only supported by the PS4.

Unfortunately, theres no way to use a VR headset with the Xbox, so that kind of takes them out of the competition by default. PSVR is one of the cheapest ways to get into virtual reality, and if thats your main interest this console generation, then go for the PS4.
