What Is Better Ps5 Or Xbox Series X

Xbox Series X: Halo Infinite

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which Does What Best?

Every person who ever played games in the early 2000s probably knows at least a little something about the Halo series. Though many hoped that Bungie’s Destiny entries would fill the void, Halo remains its own unique addiction.

Despite the fact that fans blistered at supposedly lackluster graphics, many fans remain vehemently hyped for the release . As they prepare for a new story around everyone’s favorite Spartan, fans can revisit The Master Chief Collection for a trip down memory lane.

Media Audio And Screenshots

Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are packed with media features. This includes a 4K Blu-Ray player unless you opted for the disc-free PS5 Digital Edition. On the app front, all the favorites are here. Youll find , , , , YouTube, Spotify, Twitch, and more. While was not available on the PS5 at launch, it has since made its debut at the very end of 2020. Dolby Vision HDR for streaming is similarly an Xbox-only affair, though it isnt supported for 4K Blu-Rays.

The Xbox Series X also supports and Amazon Alexa. That means you can control media playback, turn the console on or off, take a screenshot, and more via a compatible smart speaker. The PS5 sadly doesnt have either.

What it does have is Sonys proprietary Tempest 3D AudioTech. This is designed to deliver virtual object-based spatial surround sound over headphones. Sony also says Tempest 3D audio will eventually come to TV speakers. Right now, you can sample it through any pair of decent cans or the custom-tuned PS5 Pulse 3D wireless headset.

The PS5 uses its own proprietary 3D audio tech. The Xbox Series X opts for Dolby Atmos support.

The Xbox Series X opts for Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound support for streaming and 4K Blu-Ray playback, selected games, as well as the rival DTS:X codec. The PS5 technically supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, but only for Blu-Rays and 4K Blu-Rays via the optical drive.

Xbox Series X Vs Ps: Which Console Had The Better Year In 2021

Ever since the first Xbox was released in 2001, gamers have been divided on whether Microsoft‘s brand or Sony’s PlayStation is superior.

The pendulum tends to swing back and forth between different hardware generations. After all, the general consensus was that the PS2 thrashed the original Xbox by every conceivable metric, but the 360 console proved to be much tougher competition for Sony in the mid-2000s.

When it comes to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s far too early to predict which will ultimately come out on top. However, we can look over the past year to see which one is faring best right now as of 2021.

Wading into the everlasting console war, Newsweek has considered five broad areas. Namely, we have reflected on the quality of their exclusive releases this year, their overall libraries, the lifetime sales figures, which one delivers the best user experience, and what the future holds.

Ps5 Dualsense Controller Vs Xbox Series X Controller: Features

The Xbox Series X controller has a nifty feature under the hood that involves sending information from the controller to the console more frequently to allow your actions to match up with frames on the screen.

That shaves milliseconds off of response times and is part of what the company is calling Dynamic Latency Input.

The controller works on the same Xbox Wireless Radio infrastructure of the Xbox One and continues to offer Bluetooth compatibility using Bluetooth Low Energy pairing to make switching devices instantaneous something that is likely to be very helpful if youre planning on streaming via Xbox Cloud Gaming to other devices you own.

Sonys DualSense offers much more player-facing technology. While it too offers Bluetooth connectivity, the headline addition is haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers.

This technology, built into the games triggers and body, allows players to feel in-game actions like pulling back the string of a bow or driving through thick mud. It’s extremely impressive, and can create some truly amazing sensations that help make games feel more immersive. Itll be down to developers to implement the tech of course, but expect Sony first-party studios to adopt it regularly.

In addition, the DualSense has its own built-in microphone, and you can use this to talk with your friends online without the use of a gamepad.

Reasons To Buy An Xbox Series X Instead Of A Ps5

PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which Is Better?

Its not easy to find an Xbox Series X|S or a PlayStation 5 these days, but as gamers wait around for their chance to drop several hundred dollars on a new video game console, its worth asking which one is bestor at least, which one makes the most sense for you.

In the past, picking the console your friends play on made the most sense for anyone worried about multiplayer gaming, but with games now often cross-platform and cross-play thats become less of a concern.

We often discuss raw horsepower when it comes to gaming consoles, but there is honestly so little difference between the Xbox Series X and the PS5 its almost negligible. The Xbox Series X is a bit more powerful, but most people wont notice the difference.

7 reasons to buy an Xbox Series X over a PlayStation 5.

Other considerationslike which gamepad people preferare entirely subjective. The PS5s new DualSense controllers are pretty cool, but battery life isnt as good as the Xbox Series X gamepad and theyre a little buggier in my experience.

So what differentiates these two systems the most? The games, of course. And you can make a compelling argument for both Xbox and PlayStation when it comes to games, though Id argue that historically Sony has done a better job. Thats all changing with the advent of Xbox Game Pass.

    . These games are:

    • Flight Simulator July 27th
    • Back 4 Blood October 12th
    • Age Of Empires 4 October 28th
    • Forza Horizon 5 November 9th
    • Halo: Infinite TBD

Xbox Series X Vs Xbox Series S: Which Xbox Should You Buy

    Bypublished 10 November 20

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have a lot in common, but which is for you?

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are finally here, and generally speaking, they’re exactly what Microsoft promised they would be. The Series X is a pricey powerhouse, delivering top-of-the-line performance in a black, boxy chassis. The Series S, on the other hand, is more limited in scope although its compact size and cheaper price are definite points in its favor.

In any case, if you’re in the market for a new Xbox console, you have two choices. To spare you the suspense, the Xbox Series X is the better console of the two, with better specs, better performance and better prospects for the future. The question, however, isn’t “which console is better?” it’s “which console is better for you?”

While the Xbox Series X is the way to go if you’ve got money to spend and a 4K HDR TV to show off, the Series S is not without its charms. Read on to find out how the two systems stack up, and how you could find a spot for one or both in your home.

Ps5 Or Xbox: Which Controller Has More Features

This is not even a contest. The PS5s DualSense adds several major features that its predecessor did not have. The adaptive triggers, which adjust the tension of the triggers based on whats happening on screen, are incredible. As are the new haptics, which make the controllers vibrations far more accurate and varied. The DualSense also has a returning touchpad, a gyroscope for motion controls, and a built-in speaker.

The new Xbox controller brings with it all of the features that the Xbox One controller had and adds a Share button and an improved D-pad. But most of the internals are pretty much the same as what was in the Xbox One controller.

Some Quick Caveats To Keep In Mind

Despite holding up well against the Xbox Series X and PS5, the Series S isnt without its caveats. The consoles small 512GB SSD only has about 364GB of usable storage, which means that itll quickly fill up with modern games that can demand as much as 100GB of space. You can always delete and redownload software as you need to, or pick up a Seagate expansion card, but the former can get annoying and the latter is very expensive.

And while the Xbox Series S is capable of ray tracing a fancy tech feature that allows for ultrarealistic reflections and shadows some games only support it on the more powerful Xbox Series X. Finally, if you own or plan on upgrading to a 4K TV or monitor down the line, the Xbox Series X and PS5 will both be a more future-proof purchase.

Ps5 Dualsense Controller Vs Xbox Series X Controller: Design

PS5 vs Xbox Series X 10 Months Later – Which is Best?

Both companies took different approaches to controller designs with this generation, with Sony doing away with the traditional DualShock design and Microsoft doubling down on improving their current design in subtle but important ways.

The immediate change from the past that youll notice with the PS5 DualSense controller is in its white color schemerestricted to limited edition PlayStation controllers in the pastwhile the central part of the controller remains black. While the analog sticks are in the same place, the face buttons are now transparent which gives the controller a more premium look.

Elsewhere the touchpad returns, and the light strip that was embedded within it since the Dualshock 4s mid-cycle revision is now positioned around the touchpad itself, almost framing it.

The Share button has been replaced with the Create button, which Sony says they are using to pioneer new ways for players to create epic gameplay content to share with the world.

The controller is also now charged via USB-C connection as opposed to the previous micro-USB. USB-C is becoming the new standard and means youll be able to charge your controller via the same cable you use for many Android phones, recent iPad Pros, MacBooks, or your Nintendo Switch.

The D-pad has also been switched out for a hybrid dish-style input that draws inspiration from the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller to allow more control over complex inputs that you might find in a fighting game for example.

Ps5 Or Xbox: Which Controller Looks Better

Another subjective one, but hey, youve come to me. Ive openly said I despise the PS5s giant white and black tower of a console. And yet, the design of the DualSense controller works for me. The white and black, mixed with the subtle glow from the touchpad, looks slightly furitistic without being overwhelmingly so. Its also got some nifty details, like a teeny tiny pattern of the familiar shape buttons acting as the grip on the handles.

The new Xbox controllers aesthetics arent bad by any means. Like the black cube of a console, the new Xbox controller does a better job of disappearing into the background of your living space than the DualSense does

But unlike many of the other data points here, you can easily decide this one for yourself, thanks to our lovely photography.

Playstation 5 Vs Xbox Series X Games

At launch, neither next-gen console can boast of a stellar line-up. PS5 has , Demon’s Souls, Astro’s Playroom, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, The Pathless, Godfall, Bugsnax, and Destruction AllStars . But very few of these are actually PS5 exclusive, they are also on PS4 and/or PC.

Meanwhile, Xbox Series X boasts of Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and The Medium . Most of them are games from the Xbox One era or older, and one is an exclusive only for a limited time.

The launch line-up for PS5 and Series X is much bigger beyond PlayStation Studios and Xbox Game Studios. We’ve the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, Immortals Fenyx Rising, FIFA 21, NBA 2K21, Dirt 5, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Rainbow Six Siege, Just Dance 2021, Mortal Kombat 11, Borderlands 3, No Man’s Sky, and Destiny 2.

If it’s more exclusives you’re after, 2021 has a fair few. On the PS5 front, there’s Horizon Forbidden West, God of War: Ragnarök, Deathloop, Returnal, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Gran Turismo 7, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The Series X will get Halo Infinite, Flight Simulator, STALKER 2, CrossfireX, The Gunk, and Sable.

Xbox Series X Vs Playstation : Specifications

The next-generation leap means all-new power under the hood, with Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 pushing the limits of what’s on the market. Custom AMD silicon lies within both devices, promising flagship gaming performance, and elevating their respective console families with new features.

AMD technologies once again power the next Xbox and PlayStation, with standalone teams sectioned to deliver the brains of future machines. That rides on the new 7nm 8-core Zen 2 processor architecture, flanked by a Navi-based GPU, representing the pinnacle of AMD’s recent PC developments at the price point. Microsoft and Sony also have hardware-accelerated ray tracing support, made SSD storage the standard, and used GDDR6 memory as RAM.

We’ve wrapped up the specifications for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 below:

    Category
    $499$499

Our sources initially suggested Xbox Series X is expected to feature an eight-core Zen 2 CPU targeting 3.6GHz, bolstered by improvements to caching, new silicon architecture, and other proprietary optimizations. The actual specs, as confirmed by Microsoft, were a bit better, with a CPU capable of running at 3.8GHz . That helps Microsoft delivered upon the claimed four times increase over Xbox One X.

That pairs with its Navi GPU pacing 12 teraflops of computing power, compared to the Xbox One X’s 6TF setup. Microsoft’s GPU runs with 52 compute units clocked at 1.825GHz.

Ps5 Or Xbox: Which Controller Is More Versatile

The Latest Playstation PS5 is Bigger In Size Than Xbox ...

Back in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 days, having a Microsoft controller around was a boon as it meant you could use the Xbox controller on both your PC and your console. Sonys controller, meanwhile, was much less friendly to other devices.

Times have changed since then, with the Xbox and PlayStation controllers playing nice with all sorts of devices, from PCs to tablets to phones.

But, in terms of immediate ease of use, the new Xbox controller is the way to go on PC, just because of its ubiquitous support there. You wont have to worry about messing with drivers or other settings with an Xbox controller on PC. It should just work. Sonys DualSense, meanwhile, will likely need unique drivers to work properly. Games that worked fine with a DualShock 4 dont seem to function at all with the DualSense, and may need to be patched . These issues may smooth out over time, but its hard to say when or if the DualSense will just work on PC and other platforms.

Features And Upgrades Whats New After A Year

Each console has been now been out for a full 12 months, so there are some expectations in terms of upgrades from both Sony and Microsoft.

As previously mentioned, Sony did upgrade the PS5 firmware, allowing users to add another SSD card to the previously dormant expansion slot, so the overall SSD has been improved since the consoles first release.

There have also been upgrades in regards to specific games Horizon Zero Dawn can now be played at 60fps while maintaining the maximum graphics, with some upgrades that improved the overall system performance.

There are few specific features that we can point to in terms of the PS5, as Sony seems more comfortable taking a moment-to-moment approach.

Microsoft, meanwhile, launched the Xbox Series X with the Quick Resume feature, which allows players to swap between active states of up to six different games at once. This allows you to jump right into a title without waiting for the loading title, which is a feature that the PS5 currently does not have.

In terms of upgrades, the Xbox Series X has improved its UI, upgrading it from 1080p to up to 4K when connected to a 4K display, making scrolling the Home screen a lot more visually satisfying.

Another upgrade that was bought in Xbox Night Mode, which adjusts the light to keep the room dark and help players who are sensitive to light. You can also toggle and adjust the light from your connected display, which is not groundbreaking, but a nice add on in our experience.

Ps5 Or Xbox: Which Controller Is More Comfortable

This will really come down to personal preference. At present, the only person at Polygon who has used both of the new controllers is, uh, me. Personally, I find the PS5s DualSense more comfortable to hold for long periods of time, thanks to its longer handles and triggers that fit more naturally into my resting index fingers. The new Xbox controllers smaller handles are an improvement on the old design, but Im not sure about the new, stiffer triggers, which seem to require much more force than the old Xbox One triggers did.

That said, other members of the Polygon team have reported some hand cramping with the PS5 DualSense, so its heavily dependent on hand size and comfort preferences. Hard to say, but if you forced me to pick, Id go with the PS5 DualSense.
