Ways To Watch Live Cable Tv On Xbox 360
Microsoft is positioning its next-generation Xbox One as the “ultimate all-in-one entertainment system,” but the Xbox 360 has plenty of music, movie, and TV on-demand streaming options, too. Cable subscribers can even use the console to watch live television from hundreds of channels.
Setting up your console with cable TV apps can come in handy if you don’t want to set up an extra cable box in a game room or a second home. If you want to watch a TV show with a friend who doesn’t have a cable subscription, you could sign in with your credentials at their house via their Xbox.
In any case, catch the best of premium cable on your Xbox 360 with these three downloads. Note that cable apps from the Xbox Live Marketplace require an Xbox Live Gold subscription .

Set up your Xbox Ones TV integration and you can do more than just watch TV on your Xbox: you can also stream that live TV from your Xbox to a Windows 10 PC, Windows phone, iPhone, iPad, or Android device over your home network.
There are two catches: First, this feature only works over your home network, so you cant stream TV over the internet. Second, this only works with over-the-air TV, so you cant stream live TV from a cable or satellite box. Windows 10s Xbox-to-PC streaming initially offered this feature, but it was quickly removed. There are probably copyright and licensing concerns getting in the way.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Gets A Slew Of New Tv Content
Microsoft just announced a slew of new content partnersto make its XBox 360 Liveplatform the entertainment hub of your living room.
Now the 35 million people who pay $5 a month to access XBox 360 Live will be able to seamlessly switch between playing video games and watching a ton of TV content, both on-demand shows and live TV, through apps that will be available on the XBox platform later this year.
Microsoft says it has “nearly 40 world-leading TV and entertainment providers” including Comcast and HBO Go for “catch up TV” and Verizon FiOS for live streaming TV, joining AT& T which signed on to allow its U-Verse customers access streaming content last year. Overseas the list includes deals with BBC in the UK, Telefonica in Spain and Rogers on Demand in Canada.
The fact that consumers can access all these video apps and live TV through XBox does NOT mean they can “cut the cord” and drop TV subscriptions. So to that end, today’s announcements are not particularly revolutionary. Users have to subscribe to Verizon FiOS or Comcast to access their apps, and they have to pay for HBO to access HBO Go.
Today’s announcement should drive the adoption of apps from Comcast, HBO and Verizon– apps which are designed to give subscribers more flexibility and make them more loyal.

Microsoft’s Long Road To Input One
I’d say Microsoft’s serious interest in the living room began when it acquired WebTV in 1997. This was followed by years of MSN TV retail set-top boxes, as well as partnerships with Dish Network and DirecTV . The idea was that you could access web content on your TV, alongside the video content. Back then, there was no hope of delivering video via 56k modems — this was more about bringing the internet to your television. The system worked by connecting to your TV provider’s set-top box, and then connecting it all to your TV. Essentially, it was daisy chained, just like a VCR. An IR blaster was used to change channels and offer some level of integration between MSN TV and your provider’s box. This really never caught on with the masses, but Microsoft did continue to work with hardware partners to market the boxes for nearly 10 years and the MSN TV web page is still up… but I’ve no clue if there are any boxes left in use.

But Why Does It Have To Be This Way
The geek inside of me can’t understand why we are still using IR blasters and video overlays in 2013. Frankly, it’s disappointing that live TV on the Xbox One works essentially the same way it did on the WebTV when it launched in the late ’90s. But what other choice does Microsoft have? The folks in Redmond have tried partnering with premium-content providers as well as participating in creating standards like CableCARD in the past, and none of it resulted in what most would call a success.
Consumer choice is limited and the titans of technology have little opportunity to make a meaningful change, unless they are willing to run their own lines.
The reality is that cable and satellite providers such as Comcast, DirecTV and Verizon worked hard to be the centers of attention in your living room and have little to gain by letting anyone else join in. They’ve dragged their feet on agreeing to industry standards to enable third-party boxes to access their content. They’ve also proven inept at supporting the standards that do exist, and have built IP control protocols for their own mobile apps without providing them publicly. Tough to blame ’em given the game they’re playing, but I won’t pretend to like it.
How To Watch Live Tv With The Xbox Ota Tuner
To get OTA TV channels directly onto the Xbox One you need a tuner that runs between the aerial and the console. They aren’t expensive, but depending on where you live they will look a little different. In Europe, for example, there is an official Xbox-branded tuner that’s still available, while in North America it’s produced by Hauppauge.
It’s an interface with an aerial input on one side and a USB cable on the other to connect to the console. Upon plugging it in, the console will automatically recognize it and send you into the set-up process. It’s as simple as just following the on-screen prompts to find whatever OTA channels are available in your area.
Channel availability will depend on different factors, such as location and the quality of your aerial. If you’re in the U.S. and curious about what’s actually going to be available in your area, AntennaWeb is a terrific resource.
Without paying for cable, though, the TV tuner is a fairly inexpensive way to pass TV through your Xbox One, keeping it at the heart of your home entertainment setup.

Is It Possible To Download Movies On Your Xbox One
Users of Microsofts new Xbox One system, however, will not be able to download anything. XboxVideo, unlike the Xbox 360 and Windows versions of the service, does not allow users to download movies or programs, even if they are not leased. Instead, it seems that customers may only watch movies and episodes on the XboxOne.

Time Warner Cable Tv App Brings Live Tv To Xbox 360
What was promised has been delivered to Xbox-owning Time Warner Cable customers. Today, TWC TV for Xbox 360 is finally available to Xbox Live Gold members, and brings live streaming of up to 300 channels to the console. Once downloaded, folks can find their favorite shows using the app’s program guide and Kinect gesture and voice controls. For now, the service is only streaming live programming, but Polygon reports that Microsoft’s working to add VOD content to the app as well — with no timetable for its arrival, naturally. Still, with the rollout of its latest live TV streaming app, TWC TV is now on iOS, Android, PC, Roku and Samsung Smart TVs. It’s clear that the company’s made spreading the TWC TV love a priority, so let’s hope it starts showing the same initiative when it comes to those negotiations with CBS. Football season’s only a couple weeks away, so the clock is ticking, TWC.
Update: GigaOm has confirmed with Time Warner Cable that, like Comcast’s Xbox 360 app, TWC TV on the console does not count towards its user’s bandwidth caps. Good news if you want to use your Xbox to feed an extra TV without worrying about the ticking counter, inflammatory news if you’re worried about its relevance in terms of network neutrality.

During the time we were using the Xbox one, it was apparent that you have to watch TV via your Xbox One. So, the power bill will be going up a tad to use this feature. If your TV is limited to just one HDMI port, it sounds like the pass through feature is your only hands off option. The only other alternatives would be to get an HDMI switch or unplug and plug in which device you want to use.
Sorry this didnt help.
Great! Thanks for your feedback.

Why does it matter if you only have one hdmi port ? If you run your cable box through your xbox one you only need one hdmi cable going to your tv. Considering you can set everything up to turn on and off together you really dont even notice both devices are on.
Sorry this didnt help.

What Is The Xbox One
Microsofts Xbox One is the third generation in computer giants series of gaming consoles. Launched in May of 2013, the Xbox One is nearing the end of its life cycle, but that doesnt mean it isnt an incredibly impressive device. Currently, there are two models of Xbox on the market, the budget Xbox S and the 4K-gaming ready Xbox One X. However, be aware before you buy one that the next generation of Xbox is coming out Christmas 2020. You may want to see whats on the horrizen before buying a new gaming system.
The Xbox One And Live Tv
What’s in a name? A whole lot, if you’re asking yours truly. “All Your Entertainment. Input One.” Such intriguing statements were declared in a document that leaked from Redmond last summer. The slogan “All in one, input one” was on the Microsoft banners decorating the LA Convention Center for E3 this year. But this probably left many wondering: what is “input one,” exactly? It didn’t go unnoticed by those who follow the TV industry. Input one is commonly used in the biz to refer to the TV input most Americans use to access the majority of their content. This is the input that’s displayed when the TV is turned on, and it’s the input that most connect their set-top box from their cable or satellite provider to. Naturally, it’s a highly coveted position in the content industry and one that is well fortified by the incumbents.
Microsoft has had its sights on input one for a long time, and this particular go-round isn’t all that unfamiliar. The Xbox One intends to share input one in what I’d call a man-in-the-middle attack. How well it works won’t be revealed until later this year, but clicking through will reveal how I think it’ll play out, why this attempt is a direct result of industry constraints and finally, how it matches up with the competition.

How Can I Watch Free Tv On Xbox One
- Use TV Tuner
Many Xbox One users have cable and satellite. These are often costly. If you want to watch free TV on the console, you can buy a free-to-air TV tuner at a reasonable cost online. Once you set it up, you will access the service for free.
- Opt for the Plex Free Package
Plex offers a wide selection of paid and free internet channels. Though the premium packages are highly popular, you can opt for the free channels to serve your needs.
- Take Advantage of Internet Service Free-Trials and Offers
Internet services like YouTube TV allow you to access paid TV networks online. However, if you access the content for free if you get the free trials. You can also take advantage of special offers that some occasionally offer.
Why Cant You Watch Live Tv On Xbox Series X Or S With A Tv Tuner
The Xbox One included an HDMI input that allowed you to plug in your cable box, another game console, or just about any other HDMI device, which would then pass through the Xbox to your television. Because of that option, Microsoft included an app called One Guide.
If you bought a compatible USB TV tuner and plugged it into your Xbox One, you were able to watch over the air live television through the One Guide app. Then you could stream and pause live tv, to your phone or computer, and several other valuable features.
While most Xbox One accessories work just fine with the Xbox Series X and S, USB TV tuners wont function without One Guide. Unless Microsoft releases One Guide for the Series X and S, or someone makes an app that Microsoft approves, you wont be able to watch live TV on your Xbox Series X or S with a TV tuner.
