How To Access Xbox Game Pass Games On Windows 10/11 Pc

Way 1. Via Xbox app

  • At first, you can purchase a subscription for Xbox Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate on PC.
  • Then download the new Xbox app on your Windows 10 or 11 computer from Xbox website or Microsoft Store.
  • Log into your Microsoft account, and you can play any games that are displayed in the Xbox app on your PC.
  • Way 2. Via Microsoft Store

Alternatively, you can also open Microsoft Store, search for Xbox Game Pass, click Xbox Game Pass for PC or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Click Games tab and it will display all games included with Xbox Game Pass . To play these games, you are still required to pay for a Game Pass subscription.

If youve paid for a subscription for Game Pass, then you can click the three-dot icon in Microsoft Store and select My Library, click Xbox Game Pass in the left panel and all the games included with Game Pass will display.

Set Up The Xbox Beta App

As we mentioned earlier, once youre on Windows 10 version 1903 you can install the Xbox Beta app. The Xbox Beta app actually shares its installer with the Microsoft Store, so any game you start installing through it will appear as installing in the Microsoft Store as well.

Its a bit confusing, especially as the Microsoft Store displays completely different download speeds for whatever game youre installing. Unfortunately, the much slower download speeds shown in the Xbox Beta app seem to be more accurate.

You can technically use the Microsoft Store to install your Gamepass games as well, but we ran into problems there when it came to installing certain games on drives other than the system drive.

So for the purposes of this guide, well be sticking with the Xbox Beta app .

Once youve installed the Xbox Beta app, open it, click the profile icon at the top right, and click Sign in to sign into your Microsoft account.

    • Log in with your Microsoft account. Youll be treated to a more luxurious user interface than the Microsoft Store provides. Better yet, it surfaces Game Pass games on the first screen that you see, and unlike the Stores default view, everything that the Xbox app displays can be played on PC.

How To Convert Xbox Live Gold To Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

    Step 1

Add months to an Xbox Live Gold subscription using digital subscription codes purchased from Microsoft or another retailer . Increase the time on Xbox Live Gold, not standard Xbox Game Pass, because its the cheaper option.

Note: Microsoft discontinued selling 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscriptions on its website during the summer of 2020, but third-party retailers still sell them for now.

Amazon is one of the easiest places to purchase digital subscription codes for Xbox Live Gold, but a couple of other online retailers are cheaper.

Add time in the largest increments possiblea 12-month code for Gold works out much cheaper per month than the one-month, three-month, and six-month varieties. When purchasing codes, always remember that Microsofts servers wont let you redeem a code for a duration that exceeds the 36-month cap. Short multi-day trial codes for Xbox Live Gold wont work for this promotion, like those for three days or two weeks.

WARNING: If you buy three 1-year subscriptions, do not turn on recurring billing while redeeming the codes. Any extra freebie months you get for doing so will make it impossible to redeem the final code.

    Tips:

    • Dont forget that this Game Pass Ultimate $1 promotion includes one month of service that stacks on top of whatever amount of Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass subscription time you convert. You wont get the full month if it puts you over the 36 month cap, though.

    Step 2

    Step 3

Activate the $1 Xbox Game Pass Ultimate trial.

Xbox Game Pass 2021 Review: What’s Great

Xbox Game Pass How To Play on PC – How To Setup Xbox Game Pass on PC Instructions, Guide

This first reason will come as no surprise: games. Games, games, games, and more games. Xbox Game Pass, unsurprisingly, is full of video games, of all shapes and sizes, all types and genres, budgets big and small for all sorts of people.

Microsoft adds all of its games day and date to Xbox Game Pass, including their biggest upcoming titles like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5. This shows a great deal of commitment and consistency towards the platform, in a similar way to how Netflix and Disney+ build up their service with exclusive “original” content.

There’s literally something for everyone on offer here.

A lot of the games Microsoft builds for Xbox Game Pass also enjoy ongoing updates. Titles like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, Minecraft Dungeons, and others are getting a very large amount of post-launch support. You have to wonder to what extent Xbox Game Pass is funding the budgets for these efforts, given that keeping people engaged in your titles will also keep people engaged with your subscription service.

In terms of sheer entertainment hours-per-cost value, Xbox Game Pass is unbeatable.

Xbox Game Pass not only has me falling in love with new games but entire new studios, given that I now want to follow their work and future games. Game Pass isn’t just a vehicle for gaming, but also fandom, which is one area of the platform I think Microsoft could improve for developers in some ways.

How To Play The Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta On Pc

In order to play the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta on PC, you will need to use a controller. Unfortunately, none of the titles I tested were able to use mouse and keyboard control schemes. So first, connect a compatible controller either through USB or Bluetooth to your PC. Once youre connected, visit this site. This page should immediately boot up, and you should be able to view the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta menu above. If you instead see an invite-only message, please visit our troubleshooting guide here. You can full-screen your browser by pressing F11 on your keyboard, which makes for a much more immersive gaming experience, but navigating the menu in this mode seems to be buggy, and as such you should navigate the menu with your keyboard and mouse to select your game, and full screen it after. You can also full screen the application by clicking the ellipsis icon in the top left. Once youve chosen your game and your save has synced, you should be ready to play.

Access Game Pass Games On Pc Via Microsoft Store

All of the PC games that are currently playable on Game Pass can be found in the Microsoft Store, Windows 10s app store, which is on every Windows 10 computer by default no extra installation necessary.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the slightly more confusing method for finding Game Pass games that work on PC. I recommend downloading the Xbox app listed above, but this option works if youre in a rush and dont want to deal with a download.

    • Open the Microsoft Store.
    • On the Store homepage, click the menu button on the top right section of the window, then select My Library to see all of the content that you own.
    • Look for Xbox Game Pass and click on that option. All of the games included with Game Pass will display.

Unfortunately, this view displays all Game Pass games, including ones that can only be played exclusively on the Xbox console. And there isnt a way to filter the view to make Xbox One games disappear.

Did I mention that the Xbox app for Windows 10 is just way better?

How to Install Xbox Game Pass on PC

The Xbox Game Pass subscription service has been discussed by some as the gaming equivalent of Netflix. Subscribe, access a huge amount of content, rather than having to buy each individual game outright. Its a model which stands out in comparison to the offerings from its competitors. But one criticism of the Game Pass service, is that it doesnt currently offer anything like a family plan. This is where it is different from other subscription services, such as Netflix or Spotify, which allow one account to be shared between multiple users. While there isnt officially a family plan, is it possible to share your game pass with your family? And does Game Pass work on more than one device? Well answer these questions, so you know exactly what you can and cant do, with a Game Pass subscription.

The Problem Is The Xbox App

The problem with PC Game Pass is the Xbox app. Ive used PC Game Pass since it launched two years ago, and the Xbox app has always been the most consistent pain point. Its prone to bugs, horribly disorganized, and missing essential features that make platforms like Steam tick.

Disorganization is the silent killer. The filters thatsearch through Game Pass massive library dont work. I like to switch between my Xbox and my PC, so Ive grown attached to Xboxs Play Anywhere games . Only a fraction of the Play Anywhere games show up with the filter, even though a good chunk of the library supports Play Anywhere.

Microsoft uses tags to note the capabilities of each game, but they dont filter those games in the results. A lot of the tags dont make sense, either. For example, you can filter by 60fps+ capabilities, but youll only find five games. Why is this a filter on a PC? And more importantly, why does it only include five games?

These issues are just a small sample of the larger quality of life problems plaguing the Xbox app. You cant see your playtime or organize your installed games into groups. And you cant move your installation folder or see what the latest patches are for your games. The tagging system would help on the quality of life front, but not when half of the library is mismarked

The bugs and updates are what kill the Xbox app for me, though. Heres a small sampling of the bugs Ive encountered across versions:
