The Elder Scrolls Xbox One

The Elder Scrolls Online Ps4/xbox One Requires 15gb Day

The Elder Scrolls Online Xbox One and PS4 Trailer

There will be a required ~15GB day-one patch for The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited on PS4 and Xbox One.

The revelation was tucked at the bottom of a FAQ accompanying yesterday’s Elder Scrolls Online beta-invites news.

The reason for the ~15GB patch: the game is bigger than a Blu-ray disc’s 50GB capacity.

“ESOTU is an incredibly massive game, both in terms of sheer scope and the data required to bring you this truly enormous experience. At the moment, the client will exceed a 50GB Blu-ray disc which means there will also be a large day-one patch that is somewhere in the region of 15GB,” explained Bethesda.

There haven’t been any games on PS4 or Xbox One that come on or successfully use multiple discs. Yes there’s a cost associated with cutting another disc, but maybe there’s more to it than that.

We had an almost identical scenario with Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One, which had a 15GB day-one patch and for the same reasons. Back then Microsoft said it “wasn’t feasible” to offer the game on two discs, suggesting it couldn’t rather than it wouldn’t.

The Elder Scrolls Online closed beta begins today 3pm UK time. Did you sign up and get in? It’s a beta weekend and servers close Monday 3pm UK time.

The full PS4 and Xbox One game launches 9th June, well over a year after the game’s original PC launch.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Bugs And Performance

I’m not sure if this is a bug or an intentional omission, but some of the voiced dialogues are absent from Greymoor. This mostly applies to Lyris Titanborn. It would’ve been nice to see some consistency because having characters speak for the majority of the campaign, and then witness a lack of voice acting, is jarring, and takes you out of the experience.

The Western Skyrim region seems to be optimized much better than other areas of the game on Xbox One X. The frame rate is still locked at 30 frames per second , but doesn’t appear to suffer from drops that plague other regions of The Elder Scrolls Online. Even exploring snow-covered peaks doesn’t seem to impact the frame rate.

The Elder Scrolls Online still looks a little bland compared to The Elder Scrolls V. Hopefully, with next-generation consoles around the corner, it’ll get a visual upgrade because the developers still want to support it for a long time. The game needs a massive upgrade to lighting more than anything else. A boost to 60 FPS on Xbox Series X wouldn’t hurt either.

Solitude and other areas of Skyrim also look exactly the same as they do in The Elder Scrolls V. It’s unclear why they do because there’s a 1,000-year difference between the two games. I understand that gamers may be delighted to see a familiar area, but surely the team could’ve changed it around a little bit. It’s just not possible for one city to look exactly the same for 1,000 years.

List Of The Elder Scrolls Video Games

The Elder Scrolls is an action role-playingopen world video game series developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The Elder Scrolls games take place in the fictional world of Nirn, on the continent of Tamriel. The first game, The Elder Scrolls: Arena, was released in 1994. It was intended for players to assume the role of an arena combatant, but development shifted the game into a role-playing game , beginning a tradition that persists throughout the series’ history. The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall was published in 1996, and it featured one of the first true 3D worlds on a large scale, with a game world claimed to be the size of Great Britain. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, released in 2002, saw a return to the old-style expansive and non-linear gameplay, and a shift towards individually detailed landscapes, with a smaller game world than past titles. The game sold over four million units by mid-2005. Two expansions were released between 2002 and 2003: Tribunal and Bloodmoon.

The Elder Scrolls Online, abbreviated ESO, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was released for Windows and OS X in April 2014. It is a part of the Elder Scrolls series.

The game is set in the continent of Tamriel and features a storyline indirectly connected with the other games in the Elder Scrolls franchise. It had been in development for seven years before its release in 2014, with a mandatory monthly subscription model. It initially received mixed reviews.

Reception improved significantly with the March 2015 re-release and rebranding as The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, transitioning to a buy-to-play model with microtransactions and an optional subscription. It was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in June 2015, and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in June 2021. More than 15 million copies were sold by 2020, having around 2.5 million monthly active players in 2017.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Final Thoughts

Overall, Greymoor is a good expansion that managed to surprise me. I didn’t expect the plot to revolve around a compelling conspiracy, breaking into warehouses, and getting involved with well-known political figures. It gets even grander from there. Ever since The Elder Scrolls V came out, I’ve been hoping that the team at either Bethesda Softworks or ZeniMax would let us explore Blackreach. Years later, it’s finally happened and it was worth the wait.

While there’s a lot to like about Greymoor, my only real issues lie with the base game. Combat is still a little clunky, and the visuals are in need of an overhaul. Loading screens are also terrible on consoles, even with a solid-state drive. ZeniMax clearly wants to continue telling stories in this expansive world, but The Elder Scrolls Online needs to change to take into account better hardware. With next-generation consoles around the corner, the team has the tools necessary to do exactly that. Let’s hope that it seizes this opportunity.

The anticipation for the Xbox One X is continuing to grow. The Elder Scrolls : Skyrim

Release date: 2011Platform: PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch

There’s a reason Skyrim is on every single platform and that’s because it’s the best Elder Scrolls game to date. Originally released in 2011, the game made dragons the new hotness years before Game of Thrones came on the scene. In it, you play as a Dragonborn, the TLDR of which is you can use special dragon shout powers and it’s up to you to stop the big bad dragon Alduin. You can shape your character with different combat skills, spells, and abilities like lockpicking of smithing, and the game gives you plenty of narrative choices to make you feel in control, rather than just the story’s meat puppet. The real magic of the game was in how rich the world felt and the mad quests that seemed to hide around every corner. We’re talking werewolves, vampires, really bad hangovers, conspiracies, ghosts, and a House of Horrors. You can also get the game in a VR flavor on PC and PS4.

And if you already love Skyrim, and think you’ve found everything there is to find, you should check out the best Skyrim mods to make your game prettier or far more interesting and weird.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Characters And Story

Greymoor starts off with an intriguing quest. You land on the shores of Solitude and are handed a notebook by a dying man. Unraveling this conspiracy requires you to team up with Lyris Titanborn again as well as a cast of some unique and quirky characters. If you’re a newcomer, the introduction is similar to how The Elder Scrolls V begins.

When I first heard that the story focused on vampires and werewolves, I was weary because I didn’t like the Dawnguard expansion for The Elder Scrolls V. Luckily, Greymoor is presented in such a way that you’re never bored and are genuinely intrigued by the mystery. Those hoping for a quest involving different realms and dragons will be disappointed, but I think the Greymoor expansion’s story is one of the better ones made by ZeniMax Online Studios. Despite that, it doesn’t feel as epic as our first outing in the frozen lands of Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor Exploration And Setting

One of the most mysterious areas in Skyrim is the underground city of Blackreach. Blackreach was, from my understanding, the crowning achievement of the mysterious and extinct Dwemer. The Dwemer is The Elder Scrolls’ take on Dwarves, even though they are a race of Elves. It is unclear why they went extinct, but it seems like it was due to an experiment gone wrong that converted the entire population into pure energy.

Greymoor lets you explore the city of Blackreach, but it is much bigger than what we got the last game. It’s a major part of the map in the expansion, even though the city is underground. I can’t remember the last time I explored a massive underground city in any game, well, aside from The Elder Scrolls V. The thrill of discovery that comes with stepping into Blackreach is unparalleled, and is probably the highlight of new content.

    The Elder Scrolls: Blades

The Elder Scrolls Online : Morrowind

Release date: 2020Platform: Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android

If you can’t get to a console or a PC, then you can always get your Elder Scrolls fix on your phone. Blades was released in 2020 and is free-to-play, and set in a period where the Blades have been scattered and forced into exile. This miniature slice of Elder Scrolls lore has you fight bandits, skeevers, and necromancers as you explore dungeons and forests, and lets you rebuild your hometown. It might be a surprise to see a mobile spin-off make it onto the best Elder Scrolls games list, but the story and visuals are strong, and The Elder Scrolls: Blades was nominated as a Mobile Game of the Year at our very own Golden Joystick Awards.

    The Elder Scrolls : Morrowind

Release date: 2002Platform: PC, Xbox, Xbox 360

Morrowind might be showing its age these days, but the 2002 release should still be on your list of best Elder Scrolls games to check out if you love the series. Taking you deep into Vvardenfell, the Dunmer region of Morrowind, the game sees you join the Blades and take on Dagoth Ur, leader of one of the Great Houses of Morrowind. Along the way, you might take a vow of silence, help escort a “deep thinker” guar called Rollie, help a woman who has fallen for a bandit and help a depressed orc warrior. A truly innovative and influential RPG, Morrowind may look a little dated now but there’s a lot of magic to be found in its world. If you want to give this classic a try, it’s available on PC and on modern Xbox consoles via backwards compatibility.

    Eso Does Not Support Cross

So, is ESO cross-platform? Well, yes and no. But mostly no.

The Elder Scrolls Online does not support cross-platform play in the traditional sense. PC players won’t be able to engage with PS4 or Xbox players, and Xbox players won’t ever see PC players. However, when the new generation of consoles was released in 2020, things became a bit more complex. Here’s how it all works:

    • PC players have their own servers and won’t encounter players on any console.
    • Xbox players have a server shared between Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
    • PlayStation players have a server shared between PS4 and PS5.
    • Stadia players share a server with the PC community.

In summary, this means that while Elder Scrolls Online cross-platform gaming isn’t really a thing, but you can play across different generations of the same console. Since so many console enthusiasts have yet to make the jump to the newest generation, we suspect many games like ESO will maintain cross-generation features for the foreseeable future.
