Nintendo Switch Vs Ps4
Slippery Bogle | Illustration by Jesper Ejsing
As a quick comparison, the Nintendo Switch is unique because of its portability, touch interface, and player base. Their niche is smaller games over AAA titles that you see on the shelves of your local video game stores PlayStation and Xbox shelves.
Its much more comparable to mobile and begs the question whether MTG Arena would be more at home on the Switch than the PlayStation. Theres a lot more that can be said on that front, but Nintendo dont tend to have third party exclusives. All of their flagship exclusives are developed in-house.
Switch games are also programmed without the touchscreen functionality in mind and being able to utilize the feature because of its infamous docking mode. This means that if Arena: Nintendo Switch were to exist, it would basically mean that the groundwork for PlayStation and Xbox versions would already be there.
Commander Legends: Battle For Baldurs Gate June 10
Following 2021s first full D& D-MTG crossover set, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, the worlds biggest tabletop RPG is making a return to the worlds biggest trading card game on June 10.
Battle for Baldurs Gate will include iconic D& D characters, spells, and creatures alongside new mechanics. As with 2020s original Commander Legends set, its been specifically designed to be drafted and played in the Commander format.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends
Yes, even The Elder Scrolls series has found its way to the collectible card game genre. The Elder Scrolls: Legends dropped worldwide on Windows back in March 2017. The game then made its way to macOS in May of that year and Android later in July. Of all the options on the list, this game has the lowest player base. Thats because back in December 2019, Bethesda ended support for the game. The servers remain online but it may be the least desirable title here.

Will Mtg Arena Come To Nintendo Switch
If we were going to put money on only one console getting MTG Arena, it would definitely be the Nintendo Switch.
MTG Arena coming to Nintendo Switch just makes a lot of sense. You can control everything with the touch screen, its handheld, which mimics mobiles, and its doing obnoxiously well at the moment too.

Magic: The Gathering Comes To Xbox Live
14 years agoColette Bennett
Sadly, the cards above me are fan-made and not real Magic cards, or otherwise I might have kept playing after high school. Still, every time I see a Magic card I cant help but think that it used to be fun back in the day to whip guys at the game just to see the look on their faces. Fear my blue/white deck, noobs!
Good news for anyone that shares those memories: Magic: The Gathering is coming to Xbox Live Stainless games will handle its development for XBLA, while Mind Control will handle its development for PC and Mac. I have to admit I am excited as much as I enjoy Culdcept Saga, I think Magic could appeal to fans of that and possibly even draw in new fans that never played it in its heyday.
No dates yet, but we will bring you more updates as they come. I hope Serra Angels are playable cards. Nostalgia! Press release after the jump, naturally.

Would Mtg Arena On Ps4 Be A Good Idea
Phantasmal Image | Illustration by Nils Hamm
This is more subjective, but Ive seen some stuff being thrown around about how the console sphere isnt the right place for Magic.
So, would Arena for PlayStation even be a good idea? Thats a pretty important question. Theres a huge leap from PC to console in comparison to PC to mobile, mostly because of the controls, movements, and such being very different for a game like Magic in comparison to a first person shooter or an RPG.
With that being said, card games have made it to console before and have been very well made.
Slay the Spire is a mix of card game and dungeon crawler and perfects the balance between PC card game and console adaptation. Gwent, the card game counterpart to the beloved Witcher series, made its way to consoles and was very well made. A lot of the doubt comes from how fiddly controller UIs can be. It could lead to lower quality games for people wanting to play against the best they can, and slower games because you have to be really careful not to accidentally select the wrong thing.
Another thing to consider is that cards like Sorcerous Spyglass may be very difficult to use on consoles because typing takes ages. Thered be a lot of bad experiences for players and slower gameplay. This would be something thatd need to be thought about when it comes to the games accessibility and timers, meaning that Wizards cant just directly port the game over.
Commander Collection: Black January 28
Also released on January 28, Commander Collection: Black is a small boxed set of eight reprinted Black cards. Wizards says theyve been selected to showcase iconic black strategies in Commander, and each has been redesigned with exclusive new artwork.
The eight cards included in the box are: Ghoulcaller Gisa, Ophiomancer, Reanimate, Toxic Deluge, Phyrexian Arena, Sol Ring, and Command Tower, a double-sided Snake-Zombie token, and a double-sided card with Legendary Planeswalker Liliana, Defiant Necromancer on one side and Legendary Creature Lilian, Heretical Healer on the other.

The War Of The Spark Consoles
The console war is currently at its most heated moment. With Microsoft and Sony wanting to sway the general player base to their respective camps and the Nintendo Switchs unprecedented surprise success, the three monarchs of the industry are fighting to get to the top of the platform. Any one of them could pay Hasbro and Wizards a pretty penny to get the worlds premier collectible card game on their platform. A PlayStation release wouldnt be certain until we hear it from the horses mouth. The horse being Wizards or Sony, respectively.
Will Mtg Arena Come To Console
With MTG Arena finally out on mobile phones, people are now wondering if we could see it anywhere else.
While the game is good on PC and Android devices, its always nice to have access to it wherever you like to play games.
That means plenty of people are keen for it to come to consoles.
Will MTG Arena ever come to consoles though, and if so, which ones?

Puzzle 31 July 2015
A video game adaptation of the Magic: Origins card game from Wizards of the Coast, developed by Stainless Game. Unlike the earlier digital renditions of Magic: The Gathering, the game is available as a free-to-play title and developed mostly through free updates. The creators changed some features in the game modes, with the biggest novelty being the return of the Two-Headed Giant variant, in which the players fight in pairs with shared life points.
Duels Of The Planeswalkers
In the past, the predecessor to the predecessor of Magic Arena was on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, among other platforms. When DotP 15 and Magic Duels were released, though, they were only available on Xbox One for home consoles. This means that there might be some bad blood between Wizards and Sony, which could affect the release of a PlayStation game for Magic.
Magics popularity has boomed since then, so Sony could theoretically want to cash in on the hype and let bygones be bygones, especially with the upcoming launch of a new console and the yearn for release titles with a larger demand.

Developer Cryptic Studios has said more characters will be released through battle passes and other future updates. Cosmetics, new options, and unlocking new gear will nudge you out of the free-to-play realm. Each Planeswalker has primary, secondary, and utility combat powers. In execution, it feels a bit like a MOBA.
Can You Play Mtg Arena On The Ps4
Unfortunately, unlike other platforms, there are no workarounds to play Arena on the PS4. Because PS4 has its own operating system, its near impossible to run anything thats not available on the PlayStation Store without risking serious damage. Not to mention that the workaround would be highly impractical and prevent you to use the PS4 for its intended purpose.
On top of this, they probably wouldnt be as intuitive as those for mobile. The PS4 controller is pretty difficult to manoeuvre with a non-console-specific user interface.

Theres actually a history of MTG games being on consoles thanks to the Duels of the Planeswalkers series .
A lot of people learned to play Magic: The Gathering thanks to these games, so seeing MTG Arena return to Playstation would certainly make a lot of sense.

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty February 18
The first main set release of 2022, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty returns to the fan-favourite, and much-requested, Japan-inspired plane of Kamigawa. Set 1200 years after the original Kamigawa block released back in 2004, the set injects sci-fi themes into the plane. It harkens back to old mechanics and plays on Kamigawas history through Saga Enchantments, while also adding new design elements, like Equipment Creatures.
A Wizards Play Network article published in October revealed Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty would release on February 18. The sets prerelease event ran from February 11 17, and it hit MTG Arena a week prior on February 10, following the trend of recent releases.

Secret Lair Arena Codes
You might have encountered opponents with cool-looking sleeves, that werent available in Arena Store. In that case, they mightve bought the Secret Lair. Thats a special Magic the Gathering product, which is distributed in so-called Drops.
Each Drop features strong cards from Magics past with alternate art style, focused on a specific theme. Most of them also contain a code, which you can redeem for Arena sleeves with the same art as the specific card from the Drop.
For example, heres a sleeve you could get from the Secret Lair: Year of the Rat.
Secret Lairs are only available on Wizards Store for 24 hours after release, so you can easily miss them. Nevertheless, there is a way to get the sleeve for Arena.
Best: Magic Duels: Origins
Magic Duels: Origins is one of Wizards’ earliest attempts to compete with Blizzard entertainment’s online CCG giant, Hearthstone. It did well for the most part, according to the critics, and was a decent start to a proper online MTG.
Much like Duels of the Planeswalkers, Origins explores the, well, origins of the poster planeswalkers of the franchise like Gideon, Liliana, Jace, Nissa, and Chandra. Sadly, it was abandoned much to the dismay of many players since Wizards of the Coast appeared to have bigger plans.

The first time I touched a Magic card was 1996, and within moments I was entranced.
The idea of building decks was something completely foreign to me, like choosing party members in a JRPG had been years before, or picking which Mega Man level to tackle next.
That was the power of Magic, and in the two decades plus since its release, that spark has endured. Magic: Arena is basically a recreation of that strong base, with its own set of monetization problems to boot.
Magic: The Gathering Arena Developer: Wizards of the CoastPublisher: Wizards of the CoastReleased: September 26, 2019MSRP: Free-to-play
Magic is one of the most popular games in the world for a reason: its still good after all this time.
My history with Magic started when it really took off, and periodically over the years, various itches flared back up , calling me to play. The key thing is that at any point I could pick it up, and outside of learning a few keywords here and there and the concept of Planeswalkers, powerful summon-like cards with their own spells I could play without much fuss. It really speaks to how powerful Magics core design is, thanks to Dr. Richard Garfield, its still-active creator. So when I say that Arena is basically a 1:1 re-creation of the base game, you can see why it would be so appealing.
