How To Live Stream On Twitch Xbox One

Which Codec Should You Use

A codec compresses and decompresses video so the data doesnt clog the internet highways like a hairball in a drain. If your computer has an NVIDIA or AMD graphics chip, select their codec first. However, a codec option may not even be available, as recent builds of RECentral 4 automatically select the appropriate codec and dont present additional options.

Step 12: Check the box next to Enable Streaming Backup if you want to use this feature. This records and saves your stream. If you enable this feature, choose a quality: Same as Recording or Same as Streaming.

Step 13: Set the Audio and External Audio levels and adjust the Play/Record volume.

Connect And Set Up Your Devices

You can use any regular webcam with an Xbox One, and you can also use external microphones and headsets. Connect everything to your Xbox, and make sure the microphone and webcam are enabled in the settings. Youll also want to fine-tune some other settings, so go to Settings > Account > Privacy and Online Safety > Xbox Live Privacy > View Details and Customize, and then:

  • Go to Game Content and allow the You can broadcast gameplay and You can share content made using Kinect or another camera options.
  • In Online Status and History, select Everybody under Others can see if youre online.

Its also worth noting that the only way to stream video from an Xbox One to Twitch is with a Kinect. The console and Twitch app do not support external cameras, so if you dont have a Kinect, your stream will have to be audio and gameplay only.

Settings Within The Twitch

When the Twitch app is started for the first time, some preferences still have to be set. These include:

Kinect camera

You can set whether the video of the facecam should be shown on the screen and if so, where. Depending on the game, the UI is in different locations, so make sure that you dont cover important elements with your camera image. Of course streaming from the Xbox One also works with most USB headsets available on the market

Kinect microphone

Select whether your users can hear you by enabling Enable microphone. Also adjust the volume of the microphone in relation to the in-game sound so that it does not drown out your voice completely. When buying a microphone, you must first make sure that it is compatible with your Xbox.

Twitch overlay

Finally, you can decide whether you want to use the twitch overlay as a permanently displayed sidebar or in a minimized version. In the minimized version, you can access the functions of the app using the snap function of the home menu.

Stream settings

Now you only have to give your stream a name and select the game you want to stream. In the future, you can also start your stream outside of the app by simply using the Kinect command Xbox, Broadcast! On your mark, get set, stream!

How To Stream On Twitch: Picking Your Software

Thanks to its ability to enable streaming from a variety of platforms, streaming on Twitch isn’t as complicated as it may appear. But some of the most notable places to stream Twitch from are gaming PCs and reasonably powerful gaming laptops. And to do, so you’re going to need the right software to get your stream up and running.

The two major choices are XSplit, which is a Windows 10-centric tool, and Open Broadcaster Software , which is available on Mac, Linux and Windows. With an intuitive interface, XSplit is the easiest to use, though it does require you to pay for it. OBS is a great free alternative and is probably one of the most popular pieces of streaming software, but it will require you to roll your sleeves up and do a bit more initial setup.

There are also custom versions of OBS available, including Streamlabs OBS and StreamElements OBS.Live. These programs sync up with Streamlabs and StreamElements respectively to let you easily set up custom layouts, alerts and more.

Those new to the world of steaming can take a look at Twitch Studio, Twitch’s very own streaming app that’s designed with beginners in mind. The console’s controller should be used to navigate through menus or to play a game.

You’ll have to that is compatible with all versions of Microsoft’s gaming console and if you don’t already have an account on Twitch, you’ll have to create one. You can use chat, webcams, headsets or microphones in your broadcasts, although you’ll have to enable each of these features before your live stream starts. The Kinect sensor or any webcam compatible with the Windows OS can be used to capture the footage of you commentating on the game you’re playing, but Kinect is still your only option as webcam if you want to broadcast live streams on Twitch. However, if you’re sharing your videos to Microsoft’s Mixer live streaming platform you can use any Windows compatible webcam.

If you want to use the Kinect Sensor on Xbox One S or Xbox One X you’ll have to get the Kinect adapter since the sensor is only compatible with the original Xbox One. Plug In Your Microphone And Set Up Your Game

Now its time to set up the audio devices for your stream. Take a look at the Audio Mixer area in OBS. It should already have at least the volume bar set up for your desktop. If it doesnt, you can add it manually following the same instructions youre going to use to add your microphone. In OBS, locate the Settings button in the bottom-right area of the application.

Clicking this will open up your settings window. Go ahead and navigate down to the Audio tab. Here you can add or remove audio devices as needed. Make sure that Desktop Audio is set to the correct piece of hardware and then locate the Mic/Aux audio options. You can set your microphone here. When youve selected your mic and desktop audio, return to the main OBS window and you should see your audio coming through in the mixer on the bottom.

Originally, OBS didnt offer native support for Mac desktop audio. This issue has been resolved with updates, though.

Are You A Variety Streamer Or Do You Stick To One Category

Some people will jump between gaming, chats, and streaming as part of a variety content strategy. Others will focus on chatting alone, or creating art, or playing a single game, or playing a genre of games. As a variety streamer, your personality is the major draw. If youre more of a focused streamer, on the other hand, your knowledge and skills will help you build an audience.

Microsoft has launched a new Xbox Preview, and its a big one. For starters, the new preview going live today adds Twitch integration to the Xbox dashboard. While users have always been able to stream using the Twitch Xbox app, its been a while since they were last able to start up a Twitch stream through the dashboard itself. The preview also brings cloud streaming functionality to Xbox One, giving Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers the chance to play Xbox Series X/S games without upgrading their hardware.

The update notes for the new preview say that Twitch streaming from the dashboard is available to Alpha Skip-Ahead users, so only those in the highest echelon of the Xbox Insider program will get to take this feature for a spin. With the preview installed, Microsoft says that youll be able to start livestreaming to Twitch by heading to the Capture and Share tab and selecting Live Streaming.

Youll need to link your Twitch account to your console, and if you havent already, youll be prompted to link it then. After youve linked your account, all you need to do is select the Go live now button to begin streaming to Twitch. Microsoft says that this method of streaming will only show gameplay, so its safe to switch to other apps without worrying about showing them on screen as viewers will only see a pause screen.

How To Broadcast On Your Xbox One

People like watching others play video games as much as they enjoy playing them themselves. Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and formerly Mixers success were proof of this. As a result, Microsoft added the option for Xbox One gamers to quickly and easily broadcast their games to Mixer.

The Xbox Ones Broadcast feature was disabled after Microsoft announced that Mixer will be shutting down in June 2020. The reason for this was because Mixer was owned by Microsoft, therefore the Mixer account was simply linked to the Xbox Live account.

Due to Mixers demise or, more accurately, its merger with Facebook Microsoft has eliminated the ability to start broadcasting on Xbox One. Its unclear whether this will resurface after Microsoft and Facebooks cooperation has developed.

To enable game streaming on your Xbox One console, follow these steps, according to Microsoft Support:

  • To access the guide, hit the Xbox button, then go to Profile & system > Settings on your Xbox One. Select Devices & Streaming > Device Connections from the drop-down menu. Allow additional devices to stream the game.
  • Then, under Xbox app, choose Allow connections from any device to stream games and TV to anybody on your home network. Select Only from accounts logged in on this Xbox to limit streaming to only a few individuals.

You may also use Twitch to stream or broadcast from your XBOX One.

Microsoft Insider Update Offers Easier Twitch Streaming On Xbox Consoles

Streaming to Twitch on the PS5 is relatively easy, but not so much on the Xbox Series X or S you currently need to download the Twitch app and run through a series of steps. However, Microsoft is introducing “Console Live Streaming” on its latest update Xbox Insider preview, making Twitch access easier and more direct. It also added an Xbox Cloud Gaming beta to Xbox One, giving users of older consoles access to the latest games.

To use the new Twitch streaming feature, you’ll just need to navigate the “Capture and Share” tab and choose “Live streaming.” Link your Twitch account using a mobile device or console settings, then hit the “Go live now” button to start streaming gameplay. “This feature only streams game play so viewers will see a pause screen if the user navigates to home or another app,” Microsoft notes.

If you’re still on an Xbox One and want to play Xbox Series X/S titles or more hardware intensive games, the Xbox Cloud Gaming beta is also available to Insiders. Want to play an Xbox Series X/S exclusive like Microsoft Flight Simulator or The Medium on an Xbox One? It’s now feasible if you’re on the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring, launching today at 5PM EST. Both of these features will eventually come to everyone, as well.

Problems With Native Gaming App Streaming

While a streaming app can be an easy solution for someone looking to jump into a stream without any additional hassle, it has its setbacks.

Games on PlayStation for example can sometimes block streaming and recording entirely. Many companies, like Atlas and Bandai Namco , have included in-game functions that stop their titles from being streamed after a certain period of time.

Theres no real way to tell which parts of the game will be cut either, and streamers often find out the hard way. Theres also no way to disable it.
