Ori And The Will Of The Wisps

Only one game could replace Ori and the Blind Forest on this list, and that’s its sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Both games are worth playing, but Moon Studios’ latest action-platformer improves on the original in every way, from its fluid platforming to its gorgeous world to its heart-breaking story. You Can Still Play Your Old Gamesand Theyll Look Better
If you want to get the new system but dont see many new games youre interested in, virtually all of your old games will work on the new consoles. The Xbox Series X and Series S offer nearly blanket backward compatibility, meaning that your existing libraries of Xbox Onecompatible software will run on the Xbox Series X and Series S. Whats more, every Xbox Onecompatible piece of software will, according to Microsoft , run and look better on these new systems than it did on previous-generation consoles. The Auto HDR feature, which uses an algorithm to tweak a games picture to take advantage of modern televisions ability to show brighter images with better contrast, leads to a beautiful new sense of vibrance in games like Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. There are a few games where this feature results in image quality that looks a little funny, but it can be disabled on a per game basis.
Microsoft also recently introduced FPS Boost, the official term for a proprietary software technique that allows the Xbox Series consoles to effectively double the targeted framerate of backwards compatible games without the need for official patches from the original developer. For some games, this means 60 FPS or thereabouts for the first time on consoles. For others, it means 120 FPS with supported televisions.

Xbox One Vs Ps: Still Worth Getting
Given that tracking down PS5 restock or Xbox Series X restock is stupidly tough at the time of writing, one of the easier ways to get a ‘new’ console is to op for one from the previous generation, especially if you missed out on either the PS4 or Xbox One when they launched.
Both the Xbox One and PS4 are still worthy consoles offering gaming at 1080p, though the Xbox One X can hit up to 4K. And with a mature library of games, you won’t be short on games to play as you wait for the new Microsoft and Sony consoles to become easier to buy.
Speaking of game libraries, Microsoft has added a further 76 games to its backward-compatible roster, meaning you can use the Xbox One as a machine that spans generations of Xbox rather than just one.
How Much Does Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Cost
Xbox Games Pass Ultimate is priced at $14.99/£10.99 a month. You can cancel at any time.
As mentioned, it includes Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Games Pass for PC and EA Play. Plus, Microsoft’s cloud service, Cloud Gaming, is part of Ultimate at no extra cost.
The standard console-only version of Games Pass doesn’t include Gold, EA Play, Cloud Gaming or the PC version. It costs $9.99/£7.99 a month. It’s the same price for the PC-only version when subscribed to separately. Ultimate is clearly the better deal.

Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition
Some franchises come and go, but in 2006 Xbox gave us a modern classic in 2006s Gears of War. This objectively great third-person cover shooter literally changed the game back then, going onto to inspire all manner of other games in the genre ever since. This first entry to the gritty Xbox-exclusive franchise received a new coat of paint via Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, which boasted all-new textures, a higher frame rate and other appreciated visual flourishes. Game remasters dont get better than this.
The remaster was handled by new Gears of War developer The Coalition, who were careful to leave the basic bones of the game intact while just sprinkling in a tad more extra polish. This is the same great story of Marcus Fenix taking the fight to the Locust alongside Delta Squadron, only now its look better than ever before. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition also adds in a couple extra chapters previously exclusive to the PC version, making this Xbox One rendition the definitive version.
Can I Move My Xbox One Games And Saves To An Xbox Series X Or Series S
If you have an Xbox Live account on an Xbox One that has been connected to the internet, your game saves already live online in the cloud, and they will be available while youre signed in on your Xbox Series X or Series S. You can also transfer games and saves from an Xbox One console to an Xbox Series X or Series S over your network or via a USB hard drive. And if you have an Xbox 360 but dont have an Xbox One, good news: Microsoft is making cloud saves for Xbox 360 owners free, separate from your Xbox Live subscription.
For backward-compatible games on the Series X and Series S, your saves from a previous-generation Xbox should work. That should also apply to games that support Smart Delivery. For games with an Xbox One version separate from the Xbox Series X and Series S versionsuch as NBA 2K21 or save compatibility falls on the developer to implement .

Analysis: Gaming For Everyone
Xbox Cloud Gaming’s launch on consoles is a welcome sight, and not just because we no longer have to wait on lengthy downloads to jump into games. Allowing Xbox One owners to play Xbox Series X/S games means that those who perhaps can’t afford, or can’t get their hands on, a new Xbox can still experience next-gen.Sure, the experience may be limited by Xbox Cloud Gaming’s 1080p/60fps support, but it narrows the divide between those on Xbox One and those on Xbox Series X/S and further cements the value of an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
We’re not saying an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is cheap, at $14.99 / £10.99 per month, $44.99 / £32.99 for three months, or £139.99 / $194.59 annually, it’s still a fair chunk of money. However, in comparison to the $499 / £449 / AU$749 price tag of the Xbox Series X not to mention the price of each game you plan to buy it’s a much more affordable proposition.
What’s more, for that subscription price tag, you get access to over 100 games in the Xbox Game Pass library on both PC and console , access to first-party Xbox games which land in the library on day one, access to Xbox Cloud Gaming, exclusive member discounts and deals and Xbox Live Gold included, which grants access to online multiplayer and offers a handful of free games to download and keep each month.
Open The Xbox App On Windows
if you don’t already have it! Boot it up to check out the available games, then select the button below the Xbox logo to reach your library.
There are other ways to boot up games right from this home screen, though. Recently played games’ images appear in the left-hand menu and hovering over those will bring up a small ‘play’ button that will boot up the game. Or, you could choose one of the ones being featured on the home screen.

Ori And The Blind Forest
Ori and the Blind Forest was one of the earliest true XboxOne exclusive games to grace the platform, breathing charm and magic into the thenunderappreciated metroidvaina genre. Blind Forest would have made the official top10 were it not for its 2019 sequel being a more well-rounded and satisfyingexperience. That being said, Moon Studios original 2D platformer is still wellworth a look for players wanting to explore a magical land.

Phantasy Star Online : New Genesis
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is an updated and separate “shared universe” version of the original Phantasy Star Online 2–you can use the same character across both games but you’ll have to level them separately across the two. New Genesis is a more streamlined PSO2. It features a new story that gets you into the action more quickly, a faster and more intuitive combat system, and new exploration mechanics–Photon Dash and Photon Glide–that help you get around the world. As a relatively new MMORPG, New Genesis is still a bit bare bones when it comes to endgame content, but what’s currently there is already pretty fun. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Why The Games Will Not Work
Xbox architecture is completely different as compared to the PlayStation architecture. By this, it means that the complete internal working of the PlayStation games is different as compared to other consoles.
There are many types of games in the market and each supports a specific device. You cannot just run any game on any device. Games are designed from a specific perspective so they can work on a specific platform under specific circumstances. It is not theoretically possible to make this type of work. Although many people have tried as this would be amazing to be able to play all of your games on any console you owned.
When you get a game from a gaming store or get a digital game, you will see that they are designed for a particular platform. You can see that the game is intended for specific devices that are mentioned on the hard disk or the banner of the game. This is how you know what game console the game is designed for.
Typically, PlayStation games are in a blue hardcover and XBOX games are in the green one. If they supported each other, there would be no difference and there would not need to be multiple copies of the disk at every store. Sadly this is not a thing as you can see. This happens because every game disc is dependent upon its own platform.
Quick Resume Acts Like The Ultimate Pause Button
Using their fast storage access, the Xbox Series X and Series S allow you to suspend almost any game by creating a snapshot of it in system memory. You can then start another game, watch a movie, or even turn off and completely unplug your console. The next time you start the game in question, itll pick up exactly where you left off. Its a lot like switching between open apps on a smartphone, and you can do it with several games at once. Games already boot up faster on the new consoles because of their storage speed, and if youre playing more than one thing, switching between games using quick resume saves a lot of time and frustration because you skip any menus and save/load screens that you might otherwise be forced to navigate. And in the few months weve been using the console, every time we boot up a game for the first time in weeks only to load up exactly where we left off in seconds is a delightful experience.
Initially, Quick Resume support was somewhat spotty, with several games encountering problems with the feature but recent patches have improved overall stability, though there are still occasional, unavoidable issues. For titles like the 2018 remaster of Dark Souls, which uses an always online server system, Quick Resume just about always results in a server disconnect, which will boot you to the title screen .

The Best Xbox One Exclusives
With the console generation, the Xbox One and PS4 have truly battled it out. Although the Xbox One X is substantially more powerful than the PS4 Pro, Microsofts offering this console generation has fallen by the wayside. Still, there are countless excellent exclusives on the platform, and with how cheap Xbox Ones are at the moment, now is a great time to play some of the best Xbox One exclusive titles.
In recent years, though, Microsoft has taken a different approach with Xbox One exclusive games. Ori and the Will of the Wisps, for example, was published by Microsoft Game Studios, but its also available on Switch. There arent many Xbox console exclusives. Although were ignoring timed exclusives like Cuphead, there are a few entries that have become cross-platform games, in particular, since launch. Still, theyre Xbox One exclusives at their core.
Many of the titles here also are available on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, so you can play them with Microsofts more powerful hardware down the line. Most are available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, too, so you can play them for free with a subscription.
