Final Fantasy Vii Remake Is No Longer A Console Exclusive
Xbox Version Soon?
Final Fantasy VII Remake launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in April 2020, with a PlayStation 5 version bundled with the Intergrade side-story arriving a year later in June 2021. Although Final Fantasy VII Remake and its Intergrade expansion have since been ported to PC via the Epic Games Store, Xbox fans have been left in the dark. However, it appears that the console exclusivity branding for FF7 Remake has been removed from its PlayStation store pages. Additionally, the game no longer appears in the dedicated console exclusive section that Sony features on its storefront.
This is just in time for the Xbox & Bethesda Showcase that is scheduled to take place on June 12 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST. Xbox events have established themselves as an excellent marketing tool for developers of all shapes and sizes, so theres every possibility for Square Enix to unveil an Xbox version of FF7 Remake. Furthermore, there might be a chance that FF7 Remake arrives on Xbox Game Pass on day one, which isnt an unprecedented thought considering Squares relationship with Microsofts subscription service.
Hopefully, Xbox fans will finally be able to play one of the best games of 2020 in the near future.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake Demo Release Date Gameplay Differences And Everything We Know
Final Fantasy 7 Remake arrives March 2020, with a new battle system and a high-end collector’s edition.
GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.
This piece originally stated a Final Fantasy VII Remake demo would launch alongside the game. This was an incorrect assumption on GameSpot’s part and we regret the error. A demo was officially released on March 2, 2020.
Can you believe that Final Fantasy VII Remake is happening? After a tech demo of the opening of Final Fantasy VII was teased at E3 2005, fans were ravenous over the prospect that one of the most popular and beloved RPGs of all time would be getting a completely modern remake. 1997, even back then, seemed like an eternity ago.

But Square Enix kept us waiting for a long time–it wasn’t until E3 2015 that Sony officially announced that a full-blown remake was a real thing. It would be co-directed by series veterans Tetsuya Nomura and Naoki Hamaguchi, produced by Yoshinori Kitase and would be released in an episodic nature.
Most recently, we got a new trailer at the 2019 Game Awards, which focus on Cloud Strife’s much-loved cool, calm, and collected personality.
Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Coming To Xbox
Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake finally coming to Xbox consoles? The remake was released back in 2020 via the PS4 and the PS4 only. This year, it finally came to PS5, but nothing else. There’s been rumors and rumblings and leaks suggesting the remake is coming to not just Xbox consoles, but PC as well. That said, nothing has come of any of these rumors, rumblings, and leaks, but that may finally be changing.
This week, the official Xbox China account included Final Fantasy 7 Remake in the thread of a now-deleted tweet featuring the Xbox 20-year anniversary event next month. In other words, the speculation now is that the remake will be announced for Xbox consoles next month, and likely PC as well.
As you would expect, neither of the implicated parties — Xbox and Square Enix, nor anyone on the game’s development team — have commented on this tweet and the speculation it has created. Of course, it’s possible this is nothing more than an honest mistake, but right now many Final Fantasy fans aren’t buying this excuse.
Apparently Xbox China posted an option of FF7 Remake in the thread then deleted tweet….it shows Xbox 20th anniversary so could they announce it at event next month? #XboxAs always take it with grain of salt #FF7Remake

Will Ff16 Be On Xbox
In September 2015, Final Fantasy 16 will become available exclusively on PlayStation 5. The game would be able to be released for other platforms after a certain set amount of time has passed. Final Fantasy 16 will likely be available online for PC in the coming months, however, consoles such as the Xbox X/S or Nintendo Switch cannot be trusted to release the game there.
Final Fantasy Remake Trilogy
Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is actually the middle chapter in a larger Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy of games. Here’s a fun little bit of trivia for you, which bears absolutely no standing on how Square Enix may develop this reimagined storyline: When Final Fantasy 7 released in 1997 for PS1, it came packed onto three discs so that’s some fun symmetry. Anyway, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth producer Yoshinori Kitase had this to say about the decision to make the Remake a trilogy :
“Making the middle part of a trilogy has its own challenges, but there are plenty of classic second installments in the world of film that are defined by stunning story twists and deeper explorations of their characters. Often these second installments become a favorite amongst the fans. In the same vein, we are aiming to make Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth an even more gripping and memorable experience than Final Fantasy 7 Remake.”
Additionally, Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that “some development has already begun on the third title,” with the creative director adding that he has already “started on the development, and am working towards the completion of the series.” Nomura and his teams at Square Enix are working with what he calls an “interconnected’ development structure, which could hopefully mean that we don’t have to wait three years after the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to play the final part of this trilogy.

Abilities And Weapon Upgrades
Weapon customization screen. Buster Sword shown.
Each character has two sets of abilities: signature abilities and weapon abilities . Using abilities requires ATB, and unlike magic, they do not consume MP.
Each weapon ability has a proficiency value that improves as the ability is used. When this proficiency is maxed out, the wielder learns it permanently and it can be used with any weapon. Additionally, upon leveling up, the character earns Skill Points , which can be spent in the weapon upgrade menu to enhance the weapon, ranging from granting stat bonuses to adding more materia slots. Players can also obtain character-specific manuscripts by performing specific tasks to grant 10 SP apiece.
Is Final Fantasy Vii Remake Coming To Xbox
Officially speaking, neither Square Enix nor Microsoft have commented on Final Fantasy VII Remake releasing for Xbox. At the same time however, theres been nothing to say that it wont be ported to the platform.
There is speculation among fans that it could not only happen, but be formally announced this year. Not only has Square Enix filed a new trademark for Final Fantasy VII Intergrade , director Tetsuya Nomura has teased new announcements for the original Final Fantasy VIIs 25th anniversary.
Its also been noted that Final Fantasy VII Remake is no longer listed on the PlayStation Store as a PlayStation exclusive. Considering it was still on there even after its PC port was announced and released, some fans take this to mean that an Xbox port is on the way.
The fact that Xbox has a big showcase during what would have been E3 season has only further fanned the flames and has some convinced the port will be announced then. If such a port is announced, we fully expect it to launch before the end of the year.
Releasing Final Fantasy VII Remake for Xbox would make sense for Square Enix. The Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S are certainly capable of running it and getting the game in even more players hands means more money to be made not to mention many other Final Fantasy games have come to Xbox over the years.

Will Ff7 Remake Come To Nintendo Switch
Square Enix has yet to announce plans to bring the game to Nintendo Switch. However, an enhanced port of the PS1 version of the game is already available for all your on-the-go and bedtime Final Fantasy needs. Sure, it’s not quite as spiffy as the new version, but you can speed through battles if you’re not down for that random encounters grind.
FF7 Remake is a rather large game, coming in close to 100 GB â far larger than the Nintendo Switchâs based storage space. Storage aside, the Switch doesnât really have the hardware needed to run a game like this. Then again, they got The Witcher 3 and Skyrim to run on Switch, so it may indeed be possible. Thereâs also the possibility that Nintendo invests more in cloud technology to bring a game like this to the platform. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was previously brought to Switch as part of a partnership with Ubitus GameCloud, similar to what happened with Control in late 2020.
So itâs possible but not all that likely.
Why Was The Game Delayed
The original release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake was March 3, 2020. In January, though, Square Enix announced it wouldn’t be able to hit that date. Instead, the game will go on sale April 10. Square Enix pulled a similar move back in 2016 with Final Fantasy XV.
“In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020,” wrote producer Yoshinori Kitase.
“We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.”
After 15 years of waiting, it seems a bit cruel doesn’t it? But, as Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto says, “a delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.”

Ff7 Remake Xbox: Are We Gonna See It
As we mentioned before, not everyone got to see the game. Although PC players got to experience the game mid-December, there have been no announcements of there being a FF7 Remake Xbox game. Additionally, Square Enix has stated that theyd like to keep the franchise releasing for the PC and Sonys consoles.
Considering you can buy and play the original Final Fantasy 7 on Xbox, it makes no sense as to why players shouldnt be able to get a hold of the FF7 Remake and its DLC, Intermission. The Xbox can clearly handle it, provided the port isnt as displeasing as it was for the PC.
There are also a good number of other Final Fantasy and Square Enix games available for purchase, and even as part of the Xbox game pass. So, why didnt we see a FF7 Remake Xbox edition launch?
Give Me Some Sweet Box Art
OK! In September, Square Enix revealed via tweet Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s box art. In December, it updated the art with the aforementioned exclusivity sticker. It’s dashing, and a throwback to the 1997 original’s. Check it out below.
It’s Cloud, facing away from us, hoisting his Buster Sword over one shoulder as he readies himself to take on Shinra, as represented by the looming Shinra headquarters building. It’ll be familiar to anyone who owned the original game.
Keep in mind, it’s the box art for part one of the game. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, and whatever additional Parts the company releases, will have different covers. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait 14 years to see them.
Originally published June 5, 2018, and updated regularly to track new information as it’s announced.

Ff7 Remake Xbox: Is It Coming
Its been almost two years since the FF7 Remake launched on April 10th and changed every fans life forever. To see the characters brought to life from their polygonal versions was an important moment for anyone who played the 1997 version for hours. It was also a great throwback to the more humorous moments of the first five hours of the game.
However, the game only launched on the PlayStation 4. This means PC, Xbox, Nintendo, and other console users didnt get to experience the story. Square Enix continued to show its favoritism by re-releasing the game for the PlayStation 5 along with some extra content. It was only after nearly two years that PC players got to play FF7 Remake through the Epic Games Store.
But does this mean we can expect to see a FF7 Remake Xbox edition? Lets take a look at some facts.
Will The Final Fantasy 16 Remake Be On Xbox
It will be available on PlayStation 5 as part of timed games release. In other words, if it takes a certain period of time for it to become available on all platforms, it can do so. There is a chance that Final Fantasy 16 for PC can be brought out this autumn, but no decision has been made as to when the console version will be released or where it will be played.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Development
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth development is thought to have been ongoing since before production wrapped up on 2020’s Final Fantasy Remake for PS4. Square Enix has since launched the Intermission DLC, and Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade for PS5 and PC. Producer Yoshinori Kitase acknowledges that the three year wait has been tough, although he believes the end result will be worth it: “Three years may feel like a long time for all the fans who are eagerly awaiting the next game, but we want to offer the best experience possible and reassure everyone that development is proceeding at an astonishingly fast pace for such a large-scale HD title.”
Creative director Tetsuya Nomura had this to say regarding development on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2: “The development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been progressing rapidly since we adopted a new development structure. A title of this scale, in which everything is interconnected even before production began is truly rare.” Game director Naoki Hamaguchi adds that “development has already entered full production and the team is highly motivated in putting everything together on the project, and working to create a finished game.”

Xbox Has No Announcement To Make Regarding A Ff7 Release
A social media video which contained a release date for Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One is an “internal mistake”, according to Microsoft.
Earlier today, the Xbox Germany Facebook page posted a video that claimed Final Fantasy 7 Remake was coming to Xbox One on March 3, 2020 the same day as the PS4 version of the game. So far, Square Enix has only announced Final Fantasy 7 Remake for PS4, with no word on other consoles or PC, and so this video began to create a stir..
The video was quickly pulled from the Xbox Germany feed, but screenshots from the video were widely circulated on Twitter. In response to a tweet about the release date from Nibel, Xbox Germanys communications and social media lead Maxi Graff said We did an internal mistake in the Social Team. We took the video off immediately. Sorry, no announcement on our side. Big apologies for this.
