Connect An Xbox Controller To The Computer
The downside of using this method is that you can’t use your mouse and keyboard you need to use an Xbox controller.
You can connect an Xbox controller to your PC easily in a few different ways. Check out our guide on the subject for detailed instructions.
This step is optional because you can technically keep your Xbox controller connected to your Xbox console as long as the controller is close enough to the console, it’ll work on the stream. However, if your computer is a significant distance away from your Xbox, it’s probably easiest just to set your controller up on the PC.
What To Look For In An Xbox Game
What makes Xbox stand out is the lateral availability of games across systems. With the newest blockbuster Halo Infinite, for example, players using an Xbox One or Xbox Series console are able to play together. In most instances, just popping in a disc will fire up the right version of the game, and the new Smart Delivery feature pushes performance to the best it can be for the console the game is installed on. Of course, there are some outliers and many weird cases that are outlined on this FAQ, but for the most part games with an Xbox label will work on just about any Xbox One or Series console. Even some original classic Xbox and Xbox 360 games will work on modern hardware with a quick patch download.
Most of these titles do have Xbox Series X or Series S enhancements, typically resulting in crisp 4K images. Overall, the Xbox family of systems is an excellent choice for players who enjoy a lot of mainstream games, but Game Pass users often discover amazing indie-developed games.
Best Original Xbox Games Of All Time
The original Xbox is almost 20 years old, and we’ve rounded up the 20 best games on the platform.
It’s been more than 20 years since Microsoft made its foray into console gaming with the Xbox. Though a bunch of original Xbox games are hard to get a hold of nowadays, some of the best original Xbox games are available to download from the Microsoft Store or can be found on mobile devices, PC, and even modern consoles. We’ve rounded up the 20 best Xbox games . Round of applause for the gamers who played these games with the “Duke” controller.

Game Pass Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
Another perfectly-suited Game Pass game, Battlefront 2 is ultimate casual blaster and, after a rough launch, now a very good attempt at capturing the crunchy, breezy fun of the originals. It’s not the most sophisticated, but it was never meant to be – the attention to detail is, instead, found in the sumptuous environments, the immaculate sounds, and the silliness of the voice acting, with nods to all of the films and plenty of the cultier cartoons and series that came in between. A carefree blast.

Project Gotham Racing 2
The original Xbox was home to some great racing series, including the long-defunct Project Gotham Racing franchise. Project Gotham Racing 2–which is actually the third entry in the series–pushed the series to impressive heights when it launched in 2003. If you liked your racing games to feature a tantalizing mix of simulation and arcade racing, this was the game for you. Project Gotham Racing 2 had a whopping 14 classes of cars and a wonderful career mode that took place across 14 cities. It was absolutely massive in terms of scope and replay value.

Morrowind Oblivion And Skyrim
There isnt a reason to split these three Bethesda games apart because theyre all excellent. Everyone has their reasons for liking one Elder Scrolls game over another, but you really cant go wrong with any of Bethesdas open-world epics.
Morrowind established the franchise on consoles. Even after nearly 20 years, Morrowind has some of the best writing and world design in the series, and the skill system still holds up. Oblivion pushed the freeform design of Morrowind further, adding more depth and things to do in the world. It also fixed Morrowinds clunky combat system, lowering the barrier to entry for new players. Then theres Skyrim, which made Bethesda and Elder Scrolls household names.
If you have option paralysis, we recommend starting with Oblivion. Skyrim is a close second, but Oblivion defined the systems and world design that Bethesda built upon in Skyrim.
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Ubisoft may not care about Sam Fisher nowadays, but we sure do. The Splinter Cell series was the best action-stealth franchise on the original Xbox. While all four Splinter Cell games on Xbox were well worth playing, the third entry, Chaos Theory, offered the best mix of stealth and action. Chaos Theory significantly improved stealth detection, making the experience more fair and rewarding than in the first two games. Chaos Theory also gave Fisher new weapons and gadgets that diversified the gameplay, giving players more freedom to approach each level in their own way. This was Splinter Cell at its best, but hopefully Sam Fisher will eventually make a real return in a new mainline game .

Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
This isn’t Resident Evil like you remember, far from it. Beyond the jump to first-person perspective, the latest installment in the long-running franchise is a game that’ll make you need a spare pair of pants on standby.
Besides the jump scares, what you’ll actually find is a slick shooter with a well-designed environment and fairly impressive graphics. It isn’t a Play Anywhere title, which is a little disappointing, but you get the full Xbox Live treatment by getting it from the Windows Store.
Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game Of The Year Edition
Microsoft Flight Simulator was already a boon to serious simulator lovers when it first arrived, but the Game of the Year edition hitting Game Pass is a greatly improved experience thats also friendly if its your first simulator and you want to learn the ropes. This edition includes added features like more tutorials to learn all the details, Flight Assistant mode while youre playing more casually, Map Labels to help you pin down specific spots, Land Anywhere mode to help those still mastering the ropes, and Discovery Flights for pure exploration. Thats in addition to the multiple world and sim updates that Flight Simulator has received since it came out in mid-2021. Its one of the best possible times to jump in, especially if you have a Series X that can take advantage of the real-world scenery.

The Elder Scrolls : Skyrim Special Edition
The Elder Scrolls 5, better known as just Skyrim, is a classic. And while you can play it on almost any console or device known to humankind at this point, its still worth playing on Game Pass if youve never given it a chance, or are just craving another journey in its sprawling world.
Like most Bethesda RPGs, Skyrim is a first-person game with a giant, living world. There are dungeons to crawl, stories to uncover, and a variety of guilds to join. But you can also go off the beaten path and discover your own fun in Skyrim it rewards you for being curious. Its the kind of Game Pass game that you can play for hundreds of hours and never get bored.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Bethesda Game Studios’ open-world RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available on basically every platform under the sun, but its origins date back to the Xbox 360 era. The game was released in November 2011 and few could have predicted the bonafide phenomenon that it would become. Directed by Todd Howard and the winner of many Game of the Year awards, Skyrim was praised in part for its open-ended structure that allowed players to venture through a fantastical world full of monsters and magic. Many believe Skyrim remains Bethesda’s best RPG ever, and as for why Bethesda keeps releasing it on more and more platforms, well, we only have ourselves to blame.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider
With one of the most influential female protagonists in gaming and media, Lara Croft is what is known as a “tomb raider.” A tomb raider seeks to preserve archeological sites, which is what separates her from the bad guys.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is possibly the best Tomb Raider game to be released thus far. It’s a cinematic adventure with an abundance of content and replay value. Solving puzzles while exploring tombs proves to be fun and highly intuitive. It’s an exceptional third-person adventure game that needs to be played.

How To Choose The Best Xbox One Games For You
Theres no special trick to choosing the best Xbox One games. Its a matter of personal preference. This list has hopefully given you some guidance, but there is no best Xbox One game in the same way that there is no best food or best coffee table. It depends on your needs, and your preferences.
Generally speaking, youll want to consider your favorite genres to begin with. If youre in the mood for a short, fast-paced FPS, buying a long, contemplative RPG is not going to do you any good. Likewise, consider whether you want a big-budget title, which will probably be meaty and intricate, or an indie title, which will probably be quicker and rely on a few simple hooks.
Price is also a consideration, although theres no easy way to gauge how much a game will cost on any given day. Titles go on sale frequently, and vary depending on the retailer. Broadly speaking, though, old games cost less than new ones, making it easier to build your library with titles from a few years ago.

Xbox Game Pass is a reasonably priced way to enjoy a bunch of quality PC games without having to fork out for them all individually. But once you’ve subscribed, where do you even start? The current library on PC isn’t that massive, but big enough to make wading through it overwhelming if you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for. So, to make your life easier, here are some games I think are worth fast-tracking to the top of your list.
Open The Xbox App On Windows
if you don’t already have it! Boot it up to check out the available games, then select the button below the Xbox logo to reach your library.
There are other ways to boot up games right from this home screen, though. Recently played games’ images appear in the left-hand menu and hovering over those will bring up a small ‘play’ button that will boot up the game. Or, you could choose one of the ones being featured on the home screen.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4
Choosing the best Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Xbox game definitely isn’t easy. There are four really awesome THPS games on Xbox. We’re going with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 here, because it was a turning point for the franchise. Pro Skater 4 added open-world game elements, removing the time restriction for runs that was present in the first three entries. Each of the big levels contained a wide variety of challenges that you could find by skating around and talking to people such as other pros. This free-skate focus made Pro Skater 4 feel less constrained. The core gameplay felt better than ever before, too. Nowadays, the best way to experience classic Tony Hawk games is to pick up the remastered version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, but here’s hoping Activision makes a new open-world entry in the series down the road.
