Wolfenstein The New Order

Platform : PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox OneRelease Date : 20 May 2014Genre : Action-adventure, first-person shooter

The Wolfenstein franchise in general is pretty beloved as a WWII video game IP. However, it was 2014 that the game received a slight reboot. This game was set in an alternative timeline where the Nazi power won the Second World War. With that said, players stepped into the role of a war veteran named William Blazkowicz who took up working with a resistance group to overthrow the Nazi power and establish a new order. Developed by MachineGames, the title was very action-oriented where players are not only battling the Nazi party with a slew of weaponry but also having to battle against a slew of mechanical beasts as well. This FPS game was such a big hit that we received a sequel with Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus which came out in 2017.

Age Of Wonders: Planetfall

Age of Wonders has long been a staple in the hero-style, hex-based, faction-heavy TBS field, and Planetfall appears to be a more than worthy successor.

It brings the game into the science-fiction future while retaining the hero focus and turn-based tactical scale battles. It looks really good and could continue to crack open the Xbox ecology for serious strategy games.

Best Open World Game: Ubisoft Montreal Far Cry 5

Best Deals for the Top War Games (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

Far Cry has long been an open-world shooter on the Xbox One, but with Far Cry 5, Ubisoft has taken everything to the next level. Set in Montana, the fictional region of Hope County feels like its own country within a country. Everything from mountains, rivers, and farmland permeate the background and serve as the backbone of open world exploration. The gorgeous graphics are complemented by outstanding gameplay. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to hunt down cult leader Joseph Seed. As your first mission goes awry, the game kicks off.

From there, you can spend hours running around and flying helicopters and planes. Ever wanted to drive a semi-truck with a machine gun strapped to it? Far Cry will help you fulfill that fantasy. The game culminates in finding Josephs top three lieutenants who double as the games three big bads. Ultimately, youll work your way up the final confrontation with Joseph himself. This is a first-person shooter that allows for endless exploration and replay.

Best Zombie Apocalypse Game: Capcom Dead Rising 4

In Dead Rising 4, you get to beat up an army of zombies in ways unimaginable like punching them with giant green Hulk hands. The goofy fourth installment in the series has you fighting off literally thousands of zombies in an open world environment. Your mission is to investigate a shopping mall to find out exactly what happened that caused this undead epidemic once again.

Unlike its predecessors, Dead Rising 4 doesnt have a timer system, so you can spend many sweet hours finding over 200 weapons ranging from boring assault rifles and motorbikes to food carts and fire-breathing triceratops heads. Not all zombies are made the same either, as players will encounter craftier, smarter enemies and even face off with murderous humans in dangerous cults and elite mercenary groups. Players can also join with up to four of their friends online to battle the zombie hoards and complete missions in cooperative mode.

Best Overall: Xcom 2 Collection

Twenty years ago, humanity foughtand losta war against invading aliens. In the years since, humans have more or less accepted their new overlord, but the remains of XCOM have continued to fight back using guerilla operations to do it. Now the time has come to leave the shadows and bring the fight to the next level if you want to save the world.

XCOM is a combination of grid-based combat and a base building game that delivers an excellent experience. You’ll control four to six soldiers as they move across levels fighting aliens and using cover to shield them from attacks. There are four different classes, and soldiers will level up and gain new abilities, provided they survive the battle. As you play, you’ll also deal with your base by building new rooms, creating items and researching new technology, weapons, and armor to be used in battle.

Each level is a mission that your squad will take on to fulfill specific parameters. Depending on the task, you may need to shut down reactors, rescue hostages, or kill a whole bunch of aliens. Strategy is a critical factor since line of sight and cover make a drastic difference, and moving too far too fast can leave you isolated and vulnerable to enemy attacks. While the campaign always starts the same way, it doesn’t stick to a script, which means no two playthroughs are identical.

2] Sniper Elite 4

Sniper Elite 4 is yet another quality war game for Xbox One. Although the graphics are not as good as Battlefield 1, you can find a pretty good user interface in this game. As the name defines, you are a sniper and have landed in a war zone where you need to kill your enemies and level up. According to some gamers, you must have a basic knowledge of stealth and extraction missions to be in this game for a long time. What Is The Most Popular Xbox Single Player Game Now

Witcher 3, Assassins Creed Odyssey and Red Dead Redemption 2 are the top two on most gamers list. RDR2 does deliver on more intuitive gameplay and a more open-ended sandbox experience with a highly interactive game environment. Witcher 3 and Odyssey offer a bit more of the typical vast RPG action. But RDR2 is the most popular game single player Xbox game right now.

Rise Of The Tomb Raider

Receiving the exact same score as this list’s previous entry is Tomb Raider‘s successor Rise of the Tomb Raider. Square Enix’s Rise of the Tomb Raider released just two years after its predecessor, despite Square Enix naming Tomb Raider as one of three games that they felt underperformed sales-wise.

Despite the commercial disappointment, Rise of the Tomb Raider kept its core gameplay similar to the first rebooted game. Among the minimal changes to the gameplay was the game’s heavier focus on combat, befitting of Lara’s origin story. This shows that she can now rely on her weaponry skills.

Best Giant Robot Game: Respawn Entertainment Titanfall 2

No matter if its in single player or multiplayer modes, doing battle as a robot will never get old. As the single-player campaign begins, youll find yourself cast as a militia rifleman who dreams of piloting a mechanized titan. When you find yourself given the keys to a 20-foot tall mechanized war machine, the roughly six-hour campaign truly kicks off. The hero Jack Cooper and the robot mesh together to become a one-man army.

The controls are top notch which bodes well for the array of weapons at your disposal. Combat as a rifleman is good, but it’s the Titan vs Titan action that really helps Titanfall 2 stand out. Giant swords cut through Titans like butter while chest lasers are your last resort. Each level feels well thought out, striking the right balance between too difficult and not difficult enough. The animation really shines when you enter multiplayer where modes like team deathmatch provide breathtaking battles.

Star Wars: Battlefront II

  • reviewed on March 14, 2019

I played this game when it came out and to me, it’s not one of the best war games out there. It has great graphics and plays pretty well. It was exciting the first few hours of it and then it started getting repetitive. You do the same thing over and over again. It gets kind of boring after a while. I didn’t even finish the game because it couldn’t hold my attention.

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition & Halo Wars 2

While real-time strategy games have been a little thin on the ground lately, the console revolution has given them new life in many cases. Halo Wars is one of the older RTS which has seen considerably more discussion and play since it has been available on Xbox. Upgradeable units, a relaxed pace, and a great setting definitely make it of interest for those in the know.

You cant keep a good franchise down and Halo Wars 2 proves that. Taking up the story from the end of Halo Wars and popping in a time skip, you are dropped into a fight made of strategic units, heroes, and radial menus. While some of the original handling of DLC was unfortunate, thats no longer a problem.

Its good to be bad in this early 2000s trash TV-inspired slapstick extravaganza! As Woody, the vengeful star protagonist of Neighbours back From Hell, you will prank your way through Seasons 1 and 2 of the fictitious, but aptly named TV show. Best Value: Banner Saga Trilogy

The Banner Saga drops you into the middle of an apocalypse as a Viking caravan in the bronze age. Your job involves solving the issues in your caravan and fighting against enemies as you do. You’ll solve problems within the caravan which includes speaking to party members and managing your caravan’s supplies. The rest of the gameplay is combat based as you engage in fighting against enemies on a grid map. Even with the best of intentions, combat is brutal. You will lose people from your caravan, and even with a bit of cunning, those losses are going to hurt.

The story of Banner Saga revolves around the end of times, as the sun has stopped dead in the sky. The graphics of Banner Saga are all hand-painted and managed to bring the world to life even when the story becomes bleaker than you expected. Your choices here matter, and even when you try to do right by your people you’re going to run into problems and watch as allies become enemies with time.
