The special edition of Skyrim, which is a remastered version of the original, is now on Game Pass, a great option for those wanting to re-visit Tamriel — and especially great for people yet to visit.

The Best Indie Games On Xbox Game Pass
With so many fantastic games on Xbox Game Pass, we wanted to select some of the best indie games to help you pick something to play.
With so many titles on Xbox Game Pass, you might not know where to start! It is hard to find exactly what a game is about based on the tiny thumbnail preview you are given when searching the store. This might mean you often find yourself playing the same Xbox games, but there are so many different titles out there for you to discover and take a look at.
If you have an Xbox but do not have Xbox Game Pass, you should consider picking it up. There are a few different options: the console option gives you hundreds of games to play on your box console specifically, with new titles added often, as well as extra discounts on the Xbox store. The PC pass, on the other hand, gives you loads of games on your PC that come out on Xbox, with updates added all the time. If you use your box and your PC, you can go for the ultimate package, which gives you games to play, refreshed each month, on PC, console and mobile, while giving deals on Xbox games to purchase, in-game perks on several big games, and much more. Often, you can trial the Xbox Game Pass for one of your currency a month, for the first month.
Now that we have got that all out of the way, it is time to look at the best indie games on Xbox Game Pass, so that you can get playing some amazing console games.

Fantastic Indie Games Not To Miss On Xbox Game Pass
Its no secret that Xbox Game Pass is not only one of the best deals in all of gaming, but also a crucial pillar in Xboxs strategy going forward. Its already home to the entire Halo and Gears franchises, as well as great games like the underrated Sunset Overdrive, Cuphead, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and most recently . The new addition of EA Play for those who have Game Pass Ultimate has brought even more excellent games, like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. And its also only going to get better with Microsofts acquisition of Zenimax and its array of developers, as well as the surge of Xbox Studios games coming in 2021 and beyond, including the recently revealed Fable and Perfect Dark.
However, one of my favorite elements of Game Pass is its constant string of incredible indie games, many of which hit the service the same day they launch. Whether youre a newcomer to Game Pass or have been using the service for years and want to dig a bit deeper, here are 10 smaller, wonderful games that you should absolutely check out.
Note: Microsoft adds and removes titles from Game Pass at regular intervals. This list reflects the lineup currently offered as of Jan. 10, 2021.

âNow I had questions that only the house knew the answers to.â
– Edith Finch
Video game storytelling has evolved. In the early days, youâd be lucky to find a real story in a game at all. must save the princess. Link must save the princess. Pit must save the â you get the idea.
Video games have gotten much better at crafting narratives since the NES days. Thatâs thanks in no small part to the indie boom thatâs fundamentally changed the industry over the past decade. Titles like Oxenfreeor That Dragon, Cancer have taken full advantage of the video game medium to reimagine how interactivity can be used to tell a story thatâs unique to the medium.
To see just how far gaming has come as a narrative format, look no further than What Remains of Edith Finch. Not only is it one of the best indie games out there, but it tells a series of stories that work particularly well as a video game. For those curious about seeing how it works, itâs available to play via Xbox Game Pass on Xbox consoles and PC.
What Remains of Edith Finch is best described as a short story anthology. The first-person exploration game is set in a house belonging to the Finch family. Itâs a towering structure with many rooms haphazardly slapped together. The goal is to explore the house and learn about how each member of the family died through bite-sized playable short stories.

Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night
Ugh, I love Metroidvanias. I especially love them when theyre themed after Castlevania. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the long-awaited game from Koji Igarashi, former Castlevania series director. Originally started as a Kickstarter project, the game was quickly funded and fans waited in excited anticipation.
And Ive got to say, Bloodstained lived up to all the hype. Although youre not playing as a member of the famed Belmont clan or even Draculas dhampir son, the story is no less compelling. Playing as Miriam, one of the last living Shardbinders, you enter a massive demonic castle to save the world from impending doom. As you traverse the castle, youll fight all manner of abominations, but dont worry, youll get plenty of weapons and supernatural abilities to beat back the denizens of darkness. And similar to other Castlevania games, theres more going on than meets the eye.
If you have one, I highly recommend playing this game on a 4K HDR TV or display. Its just that pretty.

Release Date: 20 September 2020
This unusual single-player puzzle game tells the story of two friends who found themselves in a world built on the basis of their memories and everyday objects from their childhood. Its one of those relaxing, cosy indie games that make you dive into its atmosphere.
The puzzles prepared by the creators of The Gardens Between deserve a special distinction. They used the mechanism of manipulating space-time, which is always mesmerizing and fun to play around with. Time only flies when the heroes are moving forward. The moment they start to move backwards, the clock goes back with them.

A Plague Tale Innocence
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a great story of brother and sister trying to survive in a harsh world. The game looks fantastic, however, the game is fairly straight forward. It feels like an old school game brought into 2019 with modern technology. The narrative is engaging with some heartfelt moment. I would recommend playing this game if you like single-player narrative-driven stories.
Totally Accurate Battle Simulator
Starting off our list is Totally Accurate Battle Simulator an early access title that is more like a sandbox playground than anything else. The player can build small armies from a huge variety of historically accurate military units, from samurai and musketeers to Leanardo Da Vinci driving a tank and Zeus Olympios, God of Thunder and the Heavens.
While the googly-eyed, cartoon caricatures of soldiers are certainly amusing to look at, and the wacky yet consistent physics can produce some hilarious hijinks, there is more to this game than meets the eye. Each unit is unique, with strengths and weaknesses that reflect both historical truths and also popular imagination. For instance, the samurai can deflect bullets, which we all know is 100% possible through the power of anime.
The game also contains a campaign mode, which will see you given a limited budget and headcount to face off against an opposing army. Unlike most real-time strategy games, there is no micromanagement of units once you place them, they are out of your control. While it can be frustrating at times, it also means that laying down proper battle lines actually becomes important.
For instance, my winning combo was based off the SpanishTercio, which consists of a block of muskets surrounded by pikes and skirmishing fencers. It was nigh unbeatable on the battlefield in 1580, and remains so in this delightful game.

INSIDE, Braid and The Witness are all masterclasses in gaming.
Braid is my favorite puzzle game of all time. I know people rave about the story, but honestly, if there were no text, the gameplay and puzzles alone makes it top tier. The art style also makes it timeless.
The Witness is next level game design. It is so rewarding to figure stuff out with the way the game teaches you. Was definitely one of the best gaming experiences I had in the last couple of years.
Ashen, if you like souls-like games that is.
Outer Wilds!!! Just got all the achievements for it and it was an absolute blast to play. So sad to fully finish it. Its also on game pass so I didnt even pay for it!
I can’t get the achievement for flying out of the solar system. I looked up a guide online and it just says to fly away from the sun for like 20k kilometers, but I can fly full speed the whole time before the game ends and only end up like 10k kilometers away. Any tips on how you got it?
